Not a fan of fishing or rain? Well the good news is you can join us for a totally free interactive workshop on cavalry in the English Civil Wars where it's dry!

Fancy dressing up in some reproduction armour? How about holding a sword? Maybe you can even go for a spin on the hobby horse, we wont judge.

It's been a while since the last Almonry project post, sorry about that! Yesterday the Manager donned hard hat and hi-vis and was on site for a progress meeting and site walk around. The roof has been completely stripped and the stone slates removed from site. Some of the original slates have been salvaged, redressed, reholed and stored ready to be put back on along with new stone slates.

Stripping the roofs has left the top of the Almonry exposed and looking very skeletal! It's fascinating to see all the timbers criss crossing each other, giving a whole new perspective and appreciation of the skill and techniques used in traditional building.

We were also joined on site by Architectural Investigators from Historic England, who have been looking at the construction of the building to help piece together the evidence of the different phases of the building.

It's all very exciting and we are learning new things about the building as the project progresses.

Clay Creatures and Faces
Explore the intricate stone carvings in and around the church and use clay to create your own version to take home. Will you make an animal, face or shape?
Friday 28th August 2:30-4pm
£7.50 per participant (drop in, no booking required)

Activity most suitable for children age 4-11 years, Children must be supervised at all times. We aim to make our activities as accessible and flexible as possible, please speak to our friendly staff if there's anything extra we can do to accommodate your family.
Workshop takes place at St Lawrences Church, Evesham WR11 4BG. Drop in between the times shown, no booking required. Wear old clothes suitable for clay.

Looking for an escape from the heatwave with the kids?

We're joining St Lawrences Church this Friday 14th Aug for a Children's Art Workshop. Drop in anytime between 10:30 and 12:00 noon at St Lawrences - no need to book. It's a free event but donations are welcome.

You will take inspiration from the beautiful stained glass to create your own paper 'stained glass' window to take home. There will be plenty of materials to experiment with! Here's just one example of what you could create.

We have a box full of leaflet holders that we no longer need. There are holders for A4, A5 and DL size leaflets. Each rack screws directly to the wall.

These are free to a good home, please come in to the Almonry Gift Shop on Merstow Green, opem Monday-Saturday 9.30-5pm, if you want any. First come, first served!

Looking for a way to amuse the kids this summer? Although the Almonry Museum is closed for renovation, we are still offering our kids workshops at The Almonry Gift Shop this July. No need to book, just drop in between 10:30am and 12 or 2 till 4 pm this Thursday or Friday for some crafting fun for just £2 per person.
