What's the story behind Elgin Museum in Miniature:

We still have problems with the rear gallery roof when it rains despite almost 700 repairs. When it rains we can't have visitors in the rear gallery - and short notice closures are frustrating for everyone!

There are cracks in the main gallery, in the ceiling and arches - we're looking into this, but it takes time to get all of the necessary permissions in place as we're a category A listed building. The safety of our visitors, our volunteers and our collections is our primary concern.

Elgin Museum in Miniature means we can open with regular hours, without worrying about short notice closures. You can visit and see objects you might not have seen before. We can run events, activities and talks safely.

Elgin Museum in Miniature is now OPEN 🥳

It's taken about 8 weeks of hard work and planning, and a heck of a lot of volunteer hours, but we're finally there and ready to welcome visitors to our new museum experience.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteer team for pulling this together.
