✨It's National Volunteers’ Week ✨

We wanted to say THANK YOU to all of our volunteers - those who have been with us from the beginning and those who have just recently joined or team. It is YOU that helps make our museum so special.

Interesting in volunteering? We are always looking for volunteers who would like to get involved!

Whether you can spare a few occasional hours, or would like to get involved more regularly, we’d love to hear from you.

Opportunities could include:
✅ Collections Care
✅ Front of House/ Tour Guide
✅ Learning and Engagement Support (incl. school groups, toddler sessions and holiday craft activities)
✅ Events & Projects

Bring your "mini miners" along to enjoy a morning of messy play and creativity. Best thing is - we'll clean up the mess!

Whilst the little ones play, adults can enjoy a hot drink and get the chance to chat with other families.

At the end of 2025, the KMM received a grant from Pilgrim Trust Collections Care Scheme, with which we were able to host a ICON-accredited conservator to undertake an audit of some of our large collection items in the museum earlier this year.

The audit looked at the overall condition of the large items and provided top-class recommendations for follow-up work, all in the efforts to preserve our collections for future generations!
