Our current exhibition, Right in Time, brings together recent paintings by David Abbott and sculpture by Frea Buckler, exploring their individual practices and the creative life they share.

For David and Frea, artistic exchange is woven into everyday life. Ideas move between their studios, conversations at the kitchen table and walks with the dog, forming an ongoing dialogue that informs the work of both artists.

Improvisation sits at the heart of their approaches, with each allowing room for experimentation and discovery as a piece develops. Bringing their work together offers an opportunity to explore these connections, and to see how a shared approach can lead to such individual responses in painting and sculpture.

DAVID ABBOTT + FREA BUCKLER
RIGHT IN TIME
3 to 31 October 2026

We are delighted to announce our October exhibition at Linden Hall Studio, bringing together recent painting by David Abbott and sculpture by Frea Buckler.

David’s atmospheric landscapes explore the meeting of the natural world and human activity, drawing on history, folklore and personal memory. Frea’s abstract constructions transform found and discarded materials through colour, rhythm and balance, moving between two and three dimensions.

Together, their works offer distinctive approaches to colour, composition and materials, opening up a conversation between landscape and abstraction.

You are warmly invited to join us to celebrate the opening. Please RSVP in advance to the gallery at [email protected].

🎬 Film Screening tomorrow: James McNeill Whistler

Discover the remarkable life and work of James McNeill Whistler, one of the great innovators of nineteenth-century art, in this major new film from Exhibition on Screen to coincide with his current exhibition at Tate Britain.

Boldly experimental, famously witty and a contemporary of the Impressionists, Whistler challenged the conventions of Victorian society in pursuit of beauty and “art for art’s sake”. From his celebrated Whistler’s Mother to his atmospheric nocturnes, the film explores the artist behind some of the period’s most distinctive and influential works.

Made in close collaboration with Tate and directed by David Bickerstaff.

Meet the latest faces to join STRANGERS I MADE.

Hugo. Flora. Glen! Matt! Roger AKA Rog! Clemmy!

Six new small portraits, each built up through layers of oil paint, where bold colour, instinctive mark-making and thick, expressive brushstrokes blur the line between recognition and invention. Faces emerge, disappear, and reappear again beneath the paint, leaving just enough for the imagination to fill in the gaps.

Like much of the work in STRANGERS I MADE, these paintings resist straightforward portraiture. Instead, they explore the curious way we recognise people we’ve never met — strangers who somehow feel familiar. A glance across a room, a half-remembered face, a fragment of someone from another time. Each viewer brings their own stories, memories and associations, making every encounter unique.

Hugo, Flora, Glen!, Matt!, Roger AKA Rog! and Clemmy! are all now available as part of STRANGERS I MADE, Nick Frost's solo exhibition exploring identity, memory and human connection.
