Not to miss at our museum- The Bill Shepard archive, “Old Newport”.

This is a FREE thing to do- so make sure you make the most of it! Visit the cabin located at the end of the car park to see a collection of research, photos and files📚

This is ran by Alan Shepard, his contact number and details are in the photo, although open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Alan may arrange a day to open when you visit😊 We hope to see you soon!

Over the next few days we will be sharing some of the Isle of Wight heritage that we have in our museum, if you are interested in this come and visit us! Please read the information below about the pictures!🖼️

Annual ticket prices:🎟️
£16 for an adult,
£12.50 for a concession,
£36 for a family (2 adults and 3 children)
£5 for a child (entry also comes with a free colouring book🤩)- child tickets do not come with an annual ticket.

Photo 16 and 17:
17- A selection of IOW medals, mainly from WW1.
16- A very interesting story of General Jack Seely, him and his horse, Warrior went to France in 1914 during WW1 and both survived. In 1918 Jack Seely and Warrior led a Canadian cavalry charge against the German advance. Afterwards, both returned to the Isle of Wight and Warrior lived until age 33.

Trail of a gun which left this drill hall manned by local men 14th august 1914. The gun was destroyed by the British at the fall of k*t, 29th April 1916, discovered at k*t 1930 and presented by him to the parish of freshwater.

Acknowledged as a global expert on the Victoria Cross, Mark has authored five books on the Great War and contributed to numerous publications and magazines.
