By train: The EARM adjacent to the Greater Anglia railway station at Chappel & Wakes Colne, on the Marks Tey to Sudbury line. Hourly trains operate on this line, and connections from London, Chelmsford, Colchester, and Ipswich can be made at Marks Tey. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

By Bus: Buses from Colchester and Halstead stop in the village near to the viaduct. Bus services are operated by

First, and Hedingham, when searching for times use Wakes Colne as the destination. From the A12 Exit via J26 (Colchester Zoo) and follow the A1124 towards Halstead for about 5 miles into the village of Chappel, take the first right after the viaduct, and proceed up the hill about 100 meters. We are 15 minutes from Colchester, Halstead and Sudbury. There is free parking at the Museum. Our postcode is CO6 2DS.

Wednesday 2nd September will be the last day you can visit us for museum viewing from 10:00 till 17:00. The museum will be closed until Wednesday 16th September while we set up and hold the Chapel Beer Festival from Tuesday 8th to Saturday 12th September.

✅️ Explore original station buildings, Goods Shed, Restoration Shed, and Exhibition Hall.
✅️ Browse inside various train carriages from different periods.
✅️ View the Model Railway display room, and museum display room.
✅️ Hot and cold food and drink available from Platform 2 Café.

Just a reminder that as there has been no significant rainfall or change in the hot weather we will be running a Diesel Train instead of Steam tomorrow as previously advertised. We wish to minimise risks to visitors, volunteers, the museum, our wider community, and not add to the workload of the Fire Service.

If you're coming to our Diesel Day on Sunday, you will also get to see some classic cars in our front car park as the Roman Roadsters will be meeting up between 10:00 and 13:00. Platform Two Café will be open for hot drinks and bacon rolls. Free to attend and visit café, you must pay museum admission to visit museum and enjoy unlimited train rides.
