We enjoyed another excellent workshop, led by Janice Botterill, yesterday. What a wonderful, varied, collection of mini-collages we produced. Well done everyone! If you add more stitching we would love to see the finished results.

Today we enjoyed the first of our series of 'special' Crafty Cafés. Janice Botterill expertly led us all to visit, or for many of us revisit, some basic embroidery stitches, in such an engaging way we were all totally engrossed. As usual there was plenty of mutual support around the tables and I think everyone left feeling satisfied with their efforts and enthused to take up their needles and get stitching at home.
The other planned workshops are fully booked and we are holding a wait list in case of cancellations but in two weeks time we will be holding our normal Crafty Café where all are welcome to bring a project and just enjoy some company. I wonder how many will be showing us what they have achieved with their new embroidery skills.

Join Chippenham Museum's Crafty Café and textile artist Janice Botterill for three introductory workshops using repurposed fabrics and threads, upcycled garments, and charity shop finds.

📅 Monday 22 June: An Introduction to Drawing with Stitch
🧵 Recap five basic embroidery stitches and use simple techniques to transfer drawings and sketches onto recycled fabric.

📅 Monday 20 July: An Introduction to Fabric Collage
🧶 Create a small landscape collage using repurposed fabrics and threads.

📅 Monday 17 August: An Introduction to Textile Vases and Bowls
🪡 Make a simple 3D vase, and Janice will demonstrate additional techniques for creating patterns and embellishing your creations.

These workshops are suitable for all levels. Bring your own fabrics and threads to recycle, or use the materials provided.
