🍂 Enjoy a peaceful autumn walk along the Barry Burn and discover nearly 800 years of history inside this remarkable working mill. 🧡

Follow the Barry Burn through the wooded valley, look out for autumn wildlife at the bird hide, then step inside to hear the creak and clatter of one of Scotland’s last remaining working watermills.

Discover how Barry Mill once supplied food and brought the surrounding rural community together. Little ones can also follow the mouse hunt through the mill and search for its mischievous characters.

One recent visitor called it ‘a joy to behold’ and said its story was ‘expertly told by the friendly, dedicated team of staff and volunteers'. Another said they 'could never have guessed what was waiting down the old single-track road’.

🕙 Barry Mill is open Thursday to Sunday until 25 October. The mill’s machinery operates on days that we’re open, while visitors on Fridays can enjoy full milling demonstrations.

Pack a picnic and join us for an afternoon of traditional outdoor games in the mill glade - one of the most picturesque spots in Angus and only 15 minutes from Dundee.

Duckling races in the lade, tug of war, egg & spoon and sack races will keep all ages entertained throughout the afternoon. Plus, face painting, ice creams, trails, milling demonstrations and guided tours to make it the perfect end to your summer.

🛻 Car parking: £5 per car - free for NTS members. Please park responsibly to ensure access for residents and emergency services.

💙 Nestled in a peaceful valley beside the Barry Burn, but only 8 miles from Dundee, Barry Mill offers a glimpse into a way of Scottish rural life that's almost vanished.

🌾🌊 Join a tour of the working water-powered mill, once the beating heart of the community for almost 800 years. Watch the great stone wheels turning, hear the rush of the burn beneath your feet and discover how generations of millers kept this remarkable place running.

🐭 Younger visitors can also pick up a mouse hunt trail sheet and search for our mischievous rodent characters hidden throughout the mill.

🌳 Afterwards, follow the burnside path and see what wildlife you can spot along the way.
