Does your mum love your art?

She does? Well, that’s lovely, but mean’s you are automatically disqualified from submitting work to our upcoming exhibition.

If however you mother has ever said things along the lines of “why can’t you just make nice work that people might actually buy?” Or “there’s no doubting your technical ability, but why anyone would want to hang that on their wall is beyond me”… then come join our show.

memphishennessy, Kimmy Mcharrie, Bruce Williams and whitstable tail all have stories to tell and art to make: art their mum (hopefully) would like. Would you like to join us?

We are rather setting ourselves up for a problem here: if our mums are right - what do we do in the future?

So artists, if you mum has ever suggested that you make or paint outside of your usual oeuvre, and that in doing so you might earn a shekel or two, get in touch with a chance to join this unique exhibition.

Send us an image, and a reason why it should be included. Or get your mum to tell us*

(*Not all artists mothers are available for comment, but some made their feelings known when they had the opportunity).

Deadline to submit is 15th November.

There is no fee to submit, work will be on sale for commission.
Please include an image with measurements, price, and most importantly, why you mum would like it.
Please don’t send us anything you usually do, even if your mum loves it - that is totally missing the point.

Selected artists will be notified by 20th November 2024, with work to be delivered to Bruce Williams Art Gallery in Whitstable by 26th November. Exhibition dates 27th November to 10th December. Unsold work to be collected 11th December.
