It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the museum is now closed until further notice while we carry out some necessary maintenance and refurbishment to improve the visitor experience. It is anticipated that we will be reopening to visitors in 2025, so it’s not goodbye forever, but just goodbye for now. 👋🏼

This piece of graffiti could genuinely have been from the Mods and Rockers fight in 1964, or has it been tampered with over the years? What do you think?

This piece of graffiti, reading ‘Dosser Was Here’ is believed to have been done after the Battle of Brighton between the Mods and Rockers. This is just one of the many examples throughout the museum dating back to that time!

19 years today since the Old Police Cells Museum was opened by the Mayor of the City of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Mrs Pat Drake. The museum was created thanks to the work and enthusiasm of retired and serving police officers and council staff and with the wonderful support of the Brighton Princes Trust and graphics students from the University of Brighton.
