We were recently visited by Zoe from “Altitude and Attitude” promoting aviation to the next generation . In this episode, Zoe interviews Daryl Giles and Eric Watkiss from our resident aircraft restoration team “ Saving Amy” who are restoring an original Airspeed Oxford of the type flown by Amy Johnson on her last fateful trip from Blackpool Airport ( RAF Squires gate) in 1941

We recently spent the day at Spitfire Visitor Centre Hangar 42 at Blackpool Airport, an incredible volunteer-run attraction dedicated to preserving the stories, aircraft and people of Britain's wartime aviation history.

To help support the visitor centre, we donated a 2018 RAF Spitfire £2 Silver Proof Coin to be raffled as part of their fundraising efforts. 🪙

Keep an eye on our channels for the full video, where we'll be taking you behind the scenes at this unique piece of history.

Remembering Freckleton – 23rd August 1944

As the sun sets on Freckleton this evening we pause to remember all those whose lives were lost in the Freckleton Air Disaster, one of the darkest days in the history of our village.

On 23rd August 1944, an American aircraft crashed into Freckleton during a violent storm. Sixty-one people lost their lives, including 38 children from Trinity School, along with teachers, local residents and American servicemen.

More than eighty years later, their loss remains part of the story of our school and our village. We remember the children who went to school that morning and never returned home, the families whose lives were changed forever, those who tried desperately to help, and all whose memories have been carried through the generations.

As a school community, we continue to honour them and ensure that their names and their story are never forgotten.

🙏 A Prayer of Remembrance

Loving God,
today we remember all those who lost their lives in the Freckleton Air Disaster.

We remember especially the children of our school, their teachers, the people of our village and the servicemen who died that day.

Comfort all those for whom the memories still bring sadness, and bless the generations who have kept their stories alive.

Help us to treasure our community,
to care for one another, and to be thankful for the precious gift of each new day.

May those who died rest in your eternal peace, and may their memory remain forever in our hearts.

Amen.

🕊️ We will remember them.
