☀️ A day away from the Coffin Works!

We took the Coffin Works volunteer team on a summer day trip to Middleton Hall, and what a hidden gem it turned out to be. 🏡🌿

We explored the beautiful house and gardens, discovered its fascinating history, and even had a go at bowling! 🎳

A huge thank you to the team for our wonderful guided tours and fantastic hospitality. ❤️

We highly recommend a visit!

If the museum is going to be haunted…

…it may as well be haunted by the best ghost. ⚡👻

Looks like the ghost of Ziggy Stardust dropped in to rock out with a few of his biggest fans.

No paranormal activity to report… just another brilliant day at the Coffin Works.

🚨 Did you know Birmingham's canals has a plug hole? 🤯

Yes, really...well sort of.*

Join us on our 'A Cut Above the Rest' tour in August and September to find out more!

*The famous circular island known as Old Turn Junction, located near the Utilita Arena and Brindleyplace - is actually flood control. Built during World War II to support flood gates protecting the railway tunnel beneath the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal.

It's one of those weird and wonderful bits of Birmingham history that most people walk straight past without ever noticing.

Join us as we explore Birmingham's historic canal network, discover the importance of the remarkable Roundhouse, and finish at the Coffin Works, where you'll step into the city's industrial past.

🎟️ Book your place here - https://coffinworks.org/event/a-cut-above-the-rest-birmingham-walking-tour/

What a debut! 🎭🌿

Our courtyard had its starring role earlier this month as we hosted our very first outdoor theatre production—and what a way to begin! A huge thank you to the brilliant Crescent Boxoffice for bringing She Stoops to Conquer to life in our historic courtyard!

It was such a joy to see the space filled with laughter, brilliant performances and a wonderful audience. Here's to many more unforgettable evenings under the Brummie sky!

📯New Blog Post📯

'Tales from the Ledgers- Part Five: The Weekly Paid Workers'

We're excited to share the latest blog in our volunteer Linday's series, which delves into the accounting ledgers of the old business for the first time since the museum opened in 2014.

Part five looks at the weekly paid workers at Newman Brothers, giving us a sense of who was working regularly in the factory over the years. We can also see how different factory roles, such as polishing, laquering and packing, garnered different wages, and that people worked overtime to make more cash when possible.
