Heritage Open Day event at Beccles Library!

👥 FRIDAY 11th SEPTEMBER:
Local historian, and Beccles and District Museum volunteer, Barry Darch will be discussing “The Everyday Lives of Beccles People 1700-1920”. This talk will take place between 18:30-19:30.

🏛️ This September we are supporting Heritage Open Days! Heritage Open Days take place between 11th-20th September.

We have a talk hosted by local historian Barry Darch discussing “The Everyday Lives of Beccles People 1700-1920”. This talk will take place between 18:30-19:30.

Heritage Open Days 🏛️

Between September 11th - September 20th Beccles and surrounding areas will be showcasing ‘Everyday Histories’!

At the museum we have two events running which are pre-book only!

👔 FRIDAY 11th SEPTEMBER: Working Clothes and Sunday Best
At the museum we will be exploring how people of Beccles dressed, where they bought their clothes, and when they wore them.
This will take place 10:00-11:30.

🧁SATURDAY 12th SEPTEMBER: Butchers and Bakers of Beccles
This is a walking tour of long-established current or former bakers and butchers of Beccles, led by a professional baker descended from Beccles bakers. This tour will start at Greggs and end at the museum.
This will take place 10-11:30.

🍻 EXHIBITION ANNOUNCEMENT 🍻

Pubs and Breweries.

You all loved talking about your pub memories when we posted about them in October that we are making an exhibition about them!

This exhibition will be open from WEDNESDAY 12th AUGUST during museum opening hours!

TUESDAY 11th: Friends of the Museum preview evening.
If you are a friend of the museum, join us at 6pm for an exhibition preview! Drinks and snacks provided.

TODAY is our celebratory birthday tea! ☕️

Join us between 14:00-16:00 as we celebrate 30 years of the museum being housed at Leman House (and 50 years since the museum was established)!

We will be joined by past volunteers and curators who have shaped the museum into what it is today.
