New collection of original acrylic paintings by Alan Richmond now available in the gallery and from our website. Alan says: "My goal is to create images that are suggested, to give a feeling or impression, rather than literal depiction, giving enough information to be a landscape, whilst aiming to go beyond the immediately obvious, leaving as much as possible to the imagination of the individual viewer.”

Natural landscape provides never ending inspiration to many artists working in all kinds of medium. Thomas Petit's hand-blown glass is no exception, inspiration for his 'Moors' collection comes from Peak District and its beautiful Heather Moors.

With a tear in my eye and a little smile on my face I unpacked a delivery from Christine Cummings studio last week. Almost a year after Christine passed away, we are honoured to be able to present you with some familiar faces. Team of lovely and talented artists who closely worked with Christine over the years decided to carry on her legacy and create much loved sculptures in Christine’s very distinctive style. So, the gallery again is full of all kinds of creatures big and small.

‘World Curlew Day is held on 21st April every year and is a grass-roots initiative which champions curlews worldwide. Created by Mary Colwell in 2017, the day shines a light on the dangers curlews face as a result of shifting factors both globally and locally’

Stephanie Smith creates her unique and beautiful sculptures from her studio based near the shores of Morecambe Bay. She is a very passionate artist and also an Ambassador for Curlew Action.

We have some exciting news, to celebrate our 30th Anniversary we are going to hold a Charity Auction running from June 1st to September 30th this year to raise founds for a local charity. We asked our lovely artists to help us with this great project. As always they have been amazing and many have agreed to donate a piece of their art work for us to auction. We will be inviting people to bid on these donated artworks, with 100% of the money raised going to Artworks-Art4All ArtWorks Art4All CIC a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), based in Furness. Their aim is to take art into local South Lakes community groups, sharing art with a diverse range of people through events and workshops. The full list of auction lots will go live on our website in May, ready for the June 1 launch. We will be sharing more details throughout May.

Recently I collected two new beautiful original pieces of artwork by Sophie Coe. They are both charcoal on paper and were created after a visit to Lake District. As usual the weather was unpredictable giving Sophie plenty of inspiration for not only the subject but also remarkable composition. Behind each piece of artwork there is plenty of design and in Sophie's words: 'when it works it just feels right.'
