Une idée qui traînait dans la tête de l'artiste depuis longtemps, née d'une immersion dans la Médina de Dakar : ces murs où l'on inscrit un verset, un nom de candidat, les comptes d'une tontine — mémoire vivante d'une ville. Et la façon dont on les répare, couche après couche, jamais tout à fait de la même teinte.
De retour à l'atelier, Gopal retrouve cet esprit avec des moyens simples : papier craft froissé... typographie inventée entre inspiration arabisante et calligraphie japonisante.

An idea that had lingered in the artist's mind, born from an immersion in Dakar's Medina: walls marked with a verse, a candidate's name, a tontine's accounts — the living memory of a city. And the way they're repaired, layer after layer, never quite the same shade.
Back in the studio, Gopal captures that spirit with simple means: crumpled kraft paper... invented typography between Arabic-inspired script and Japanese calligraphy.
