On September 28, we brought "Mi Cuna, My Cuba" to the big screen at Cinema Maldà in Barcelona, for a private gathering of friends and industry professionals. A Monday at 6 p.m., a cinema audience fully engaged, and an adventure that began many years ago.

We’ve all had a Daiquiri at some point, but how often do we stop to wonder about the story behind the glass? The history behind the cocktail itself.

The film follows the footsteps of Jorge Ribalaigua, son of Constante Ribalaigua, the King of Cocktails, the King of the Daiquiri, and a global benchmark in 20th-century cocktail culture. This journey brings together Cuba, the United States, and Spain in a story of immigration, family, memory, and reunions that spans decades and oceans.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, for your time, your support, and the warm reception the film received. Special thanks to Fitel Television-Lloret De Mar, 3Rs, and Cinema Maldà for standing by us, and to Número 3 Cocktal Bar for welcoming us with open arms for the reception following the screening

The documentary film still has a long journey ahead, and we’re excited about what’s to come. More theaters await, and who knows… perhaps the next one will be yours.

𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐒𝐓 — 𝐆𝐈𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐙𝐎́𝐍

This week, we travelled from Lloret de Mar to Verges, in the heart of the Empordà, to meet Giselle Monzón, one of the artists behind the poster for our film.

Giselle came from Miami to take part in an artistic residency at Ca La Rosa. Centre d’Art i Investigació, a space dedicated to artistic creation, experimentation, and the dissemination of art.

Alongside Edel Rodríguez “Mola”, Nelson Ponce, and Raúl Valdés “Raupa”, as part of the Nocturnal collective, Giselle helped translate the spirit of Mi Cuna, My Cuba into an image. A story of Cuba, migration, memory, and identity, brought to life through the language of Cuban poster art.

For Amargura Cultura, this meeting was more than an opportunity to talk about the poster for our documentary and the creative process behind it. It was a chance to connect with an extraordinary artist, exchange ideas about the film, and explore future collaborations between Ca La Rosa, Amargura Cultura, and Nocturnal, building bridges between the Empordà, Lloret de Mar, and Cuba through the shared language and cultural legacy of Cuban poster art.

Our heartfelt thanks to Jordi Vilella and Anna Solanilla, the founders and driving forces behind Ca La Rosa, for their warmth and hospitality, and for creating a space where artistic traditions can meet, evolve, and inspire new connections.

🎬 MI CUNA, MY CUBA. THE STORY OF CONSTANTE RIBALAIGUA. THE KING OF COCKTAILS
