The countries of the Baltic Sea enjoy the midnight sun in summer, yet must contend with its near absence in winter. This season, we hope to bring a measure of light into the darker months with the opening of our new exhibition, Diamond Orders – from Fashion Jewellery to Insignia for Exceptional Service.

The exhibition opened this week and will run until the end of March. It presents a focused look at the use of diamonds in orders' insignia.

Think you can recognise them all from the close-ups we have gathered?

Come, Visit Tallinn and our museum this winter, and let a little brilliance light up your season! 🌟

Today, the Tallinn Museum of Orders of Knighthood had the honour of welcoming the Grand Chancellor of the French Order of the Legion of Honour, General François Lecointre, together with his wife and associates (Grande chancellerie de la Légion d’honneur).

We were delighted to guide them through our exhibition and collections, and to share a meaningful discussion on history and the traditions of orders and decorations.

The Chancellor was in Tallinn to bestow high French honours on three distinguished Estonian citizens during a ceremony at Kadriorg Palace on Monday, 15 September 2025. Among the recipients was former President of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid, who was awarded the rank of Commander of the Legion of Honour.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Tom Dutheil of the Musée de la Légion d'honneur et des ordres de chevalerie and to H.E. Emmanuel Mignot, Ambassador of France to Estonia, for helping to make this memorable visit possible.
