Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Club road trip til Middelfart.

Classic Car House var I fint selskab, da vi i sidste uge begav os ud på en fantastisk køretur sammen med Mercedes-Benz 300SL Club Danmark i det sydfynske, startende i Middelfart og dernæst langs den sydfynske kyst til Assens og Svendborg. Vi havde taget vores to Hellblau biler - en 300SL Gullwing og en 300SL Roadster - ud af museet og fulgtes med Classic Car House medlem, Christian Lorenzen, i kortege med 14 andre SL modeller. Der skal lyde en stor tak til arrangørerne herfra for en helt fantastisk dag.

SPECIAL GUEST

The “Square Bird” quickly became the nickname for the second generation Ford Thunderbird, released in 1958.
It came with four seats as opposed to its predecessor which made it a huge success in terms of sales and it was much more popular than rival Chevy Corvette at the time.

This 1960 T Bird - sitting pretty on the ground floor of our car hotel - is worth noticing for several reasons: the 1960 Square Bird was for one the first to have six individual tail lights (three on each side) - a feature so iconic it was continued in the years to come. But that’s just one distinct design feature - there are so many unique design features that you can admire it for hours.

Design was king at Ford during this era which must have made it a dream for car designers to work in Motor City during the 50’s and 60’s and the second generation Thunderbirds were entirely driven by the Design Department before even consulting the Engineering Department before signing off on the final design - this is not how things are done today!
