with: Anne Dรถhr , Eat My Teeth (Din , Prot , Natt Nemesism) , Nik Fiend , Mark Freeth , Baoyi Fu , Andrew Gilbert , Joachim John (1933 - 2018) , Kataya , ELvira Kirchner , Jiayi Lin , Chonghua Lv , Kang Mao , Stani Nitkowski (1949 - 2001) , Elfriede Schade (1930 - 2015), Jรผrgen Schieferdecker (1937 - 2018) , Andi S*xgang , Yuan Zhang

Assistant curator:ย
opening concert: Bye Bye Fish

From the curatorial text:

French artist Jean Dubuffet proclaimed, to eat burnt broccoli is better than to eat fine cuisine broccoli, in other words, art should be pure, destroying the rational in the mind as the Goth tribes destroyed Rome in 410 AD and forever connecting the term Gothic in Europe with irrational and primitive forces.
[โ€ฆ]
The exhibition โ€œMedea serves Bowl of Burnt Brocoliโ€œ ,a mixture of museum ,temple and Heart of Darkness meets Caligariโ€™s Cabinet, brings together paintings and drawings made by musicians of the original โ€žGothic sceneโ€œ, Mark Freeth / Ausgang, Andi S*xGang / S*xGang Children (from the series โ€žEmbryoโ€œ orignally exhibited at the British Library โ€žTerror and Wonder โ€“ The Gothic Imaginationโ€œ London, 2014) and Nik Fiend/Alien S*x Fiend. Emerging from Poland โ€žEat My Teethโ€œ represent the new young underground Gothic energy with art made specifically for this exhibition. KangMao paintings , of the band Subs and ByeBye Fish, bring the punk influence on Gothic. Book covers, vinyl records, CDs, concert posters and Goth archive material are combined with young artists from China and Europe, whose work captures the expressionism and humour (often ignored) of Goth, the subversive and absurd as well as the dark , erotic and shamanic. Print art of the DDR further explores the themes of nuclear war and imperialsim, which lurk in the songs of the original 1980s Goth scene.

Sperling presents Anousha Payneโ€™s second exhibition in Munich, featuring a new collaboration with sound and performance artist Ushara. Expanding on Payneโ€™s first exhibition at Sperling (at the former gallery location), the show combines sculpture, sound, and live performance to explore the ecology and psychology of the home.

Inspired in part by a concrete poem by Kitty Doherty (from which the title is borrowed), various short stories, as well as personal experiences, the house is used as a representation of patriarchal boundaries as the protagonist finds strength in the power to empathise with and eventually metamorphose into a moth in order to be liberated from her domestic routines.

Payneโ€™s practice moves between personal experience, fiction, and myth, using assemblage, found objects, and cast bronze to question material hierarchies and cultural values. Usharaโ€™s sound- and performance-based work adds poetry, field recordings, and bodily presence, intensifying the exhibitionโ€™s emotional and psychological atmosphere.

This year, the office isnโ€™t for working.โ€จ takes over the workspace - reconfigured through exhibitions, performances, music, and food.
Departments collapse into exhibitions.โ€จMeetings drift into performances.โ€จWorkflows reroute into sound and gathering.
No desks. No deadlines.

At the same time, Geiger participates in Das ร–ffentliche Grรผn, a group exhibition at (until November 1, 2026), curated by Eva Busch. Marking the 150th anniversary of Bochumโ€™s city park, the exhibition examines its social and historical layers. Within this context, Geiger presents a Bust Talk performance featuring "Turnvater" Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, whose shifting interpretations โ€“ from nationalist icon to social revolutionary โ€“reflect how each era redefines historical figures.

Sperling presents Anousha Payneโ€™s second exhibition in Munich, featuring a new collaboration with sound and performance artist Ushara. Expanding on Payneโ€™s earlier exhibition at Sperlingโ€™s former venue at Regerplatz, the show combines sculpture, sound, and live performance to explore the ecology and psychology of the home. Inspired in part by Kitty Dohertyโ€™s concrete poem (from which the title is borrowed), various short stories, as well as personal experiences, it unfolds a narrative of growing anxiety as a protagonist becomes trapped within her domestic space, shaped by encounters with non-human presences.โ€จPayneโ€™s practice moves between personal experience, fiction, and myth, using assemblage, found objects, and cast bronze to question material hierarchies and cultural values. Usharaโ€™s sound- and performance-based work adds poetry, field recordings, and bodily presence, intensifying the exhibitionโ€™s emotional and psychological atmosphere.
