n den Anfängen über das Heute bis in die Zukunft. Und in die internationalen Orte des Geschehens. Den Mittelpunkt bildet Frankfurt. Frankfurt, Inner City Life - Mitten in der Stadt entsteht ein Denkmal jüngster Kulturgeschichte. Eine Geschichte die Ihren Ursprung in unserer Stadt hat. Eine Geschichte die Populärkultur und Musik erweitert hat. Konsequenterweise stets im Hinblick auf eine technoisierte elektronische Gesellschaft. Techno und das weite Spektrum elektronischer Musik die sich daraus entwickelt hat und weiter entwickelt. Deshalb errichten wir jetzt hierfür eine Institution und bauen eine Ereignisstätte, ein modernes Museum. Die einzigartige Museumslandschaft der Stadt wird ergänzt durch ein weltweit einzigartiges Projekt.

MOMEM is not a Museum. Not a museum in the classical sense. It’s an art and cultural center, a place in the Here and Now. An experience that sensitizes for various electronic aspects of Life. Sound, fashion, instruments, apps, club culture, spaces, medial surroundings, interaction,… Most of which arises and emerged from music. A journey from the beginnings to today into the future. And into the international places of events. Frankfurt in it's center. Frankfurt, Inner City Life - In the heart of Frankfurt, a memorial of contemporary cultural history will emerge. A History, which originates from our city. A History, which enhanced pop culture and music. Consequently always in reference to a technologized electronic society. Techno and the wide spectrum of electronic music, which developed from it and still does. Therefore we now set up an Institution and build a Site of Event, a Contemporary Museum. The exceptional museum landscape will be completed by a worldwide unique project.

DJ WORKSHOPS – AUGUST

In den MOMEM DJ Workshops erhältst du einen praxisnahen Einstieg ins Auflegen – ganz ohne Vorkenntnisse.
 Egal ob du einfach neugierig bist, schon lange davon träumst, selbst aufzulegen, oder einfach mal echte Turntables ausprobieren möchtest: Hier bist du genau richtig!

Unter professioneller Anleitung erfahrener DJs lernst du die Grundlagen des Auflegens mit Schallplatten. An den legendären Technics 1210ern zeigen dir Künstler*innen mit jahrzehntelanger Bühnen- und Unterrichtserfahrung den Umgang mit Vinyl, das Mixen von Tracks und das Gefühl für Rhythmus und Übergänge – ganz ohne digitale Hilfsmittel oder Technikdruck.

Auf vielfachen Wunsch bieten wir erneut einen ADVANCED DJ WORKSHOP für Fortgeschrittene an, diesmal als HYBRID Edition, mit dem Fokus auf VINYL & DIGITAL.

Jeder Workshop ist einzigartig und wird von renommierten DJs aus verschiedenen elektronischen Genres geleitet – mit Herzblut, Know-how und jeder Menge Inspiration.

DEIN EINSTIEG IN DIE WELT DER ELEKTRONISCHEN MUSIK

Musik machen – ohne Vorkenntnisse, ohne Laptop, dafür mit echten Geräten!
Keine Vorkenntnisse nötig – entdecke deine Kreativität!

Im weltweit einzigartigen
Electronic Classroom lernen kleine Gruppen auf spielerische und intuitive Weise die Grundlagen der elektronischen Musikproduktion kennen – ganz ohne Computer und ohne Vorwissen.
In einer inspirierenden Lernumgebung entdecken Schüler:innen, Jugendliche
und Einsteiger:innen ihre eigene Klangwelt und produzieren am Ende sogar ihren ersten eigenen Track.

Was macht den Electronic Classroom besonders? 
Gearbeitet wird an fünf identisch aufgebauten Workstations – jeweils mit
fünf miteinander verbundenen, DAW-losen Hardware-Geräten.
An jeder Station können 3 bis 4 Teilnehmer:innen gemeinsam musizieren, Beats bauen, Melodien komponieren und mit Sounds experimentieren.
Alle Gruppen starten bei null – und nehmen am Ende stolz ihren selbst produzierten Track als MP3 mit nach Hause.

Begleitet wirst du von erfahrenen Coaches, die nicht nur technisch versiert, sondern auch pädagogisch geschult sind. Sie führen dich Schritt für Schritt durch die Welt der elektronischen Musik – geduldig, kreativ und immer auf Augenhöhe.

Was dich erwartet:

* Spielerischer Einstieg ins Musik machen – ohne Vorkenntnisse
* Produktion eines eigenen Tracks auf echten Hardware-Geräten
* Gemeinsames Arbeiten in kleinen Gruppen (3–4 Personen pro Station)
* Unterstützung durch professionelle Guides mit Erfahrung in Musik & Vermittlung
* Deinen Track am Ende als MP3 zum Mitnehmen

Für wen ist der Workshop geeignet? 
Für alle zwischen ca. 10 und 99 Jahren, die Lust auf Musik, Kreativität und Beats haben. Egal ob Einsteiger:in oder einfach neugierig – hier zählt nicht Technik, sondern der Spaß am Ausprobieren!

15 YEARS OF RAWAX

Fifteen years of independent releases, countless records, friendships and dancefloors.

Since 2011, RAWAX has been dedicated to timeless House and Techno, always with a strong focus on vinyl and the artists behind the music. What started in Frankfurt has grown into an internationally respected label while staying true to its original idea:  quality over hype.

To celebrate its 15th anniversary, RAWAX is returning home.

Together with the Museum of Modern Electronic Music (MOMEM), RAWAX brings together artists and friends who have been part of the label’s journey for many years - for a night dedicated to music, vinyl and the culture that connects them.

A special highlight: RAWAX is re-releasing DJ Hell’s groundbreaking  album „Geteert und gefedert“, which was released on Disko B in 1994.
DJ Hell will be joining us not only behind the decks, but also for an  exclusive signing session, where he’ll sign copies of the album.

Originally from the Giessen area, Frank Lorber found his creative home early on in Frankfurt’s pulsating club culture. A key hub was the legendary Delirium record store run by Ata, Heiko MSO, and Jörg Henze — a meeting point where the scene coalesced, sounds spread, and talents forged their paths.
Lorber quickly became a fixture in this community. Soon after came the next big step: his residency at Omen, the epicenter of ’90s Frankfurt techno. There, he regularly shared the Saturday night slot with DJ Dag — a time slot considered an institution in the scene. With his refined feel for groove, precise track selection, and hypnotic, deep sound, he developed a distinctive DJ style that was warm, driving, and technically masterful.

Machine Room
The permanent exhibition “Milestones - Favorite Club Tracks 1985-2020” also showcases the most important electronic musical instruments that have shaped the history of electronic music. As these instruments became more affordable, they became increasingly widespread from the 1980s onwards. And so the sound became more innovative - especially in Detroit, Chicago, and New York.

The very last Line-Up
The 1990s were the decade of flyers, and OMEN was famous for its particularly elaborate, artistically designed examples. Flyers were the visual expression of the artistic aspirations of the entire club, and so the current exhibition “OMEN Club Frankfurt 1988-1998 – New Electronic Ecstasy” displays a whole series of OMEN flyers.
This is the back of the very last OMEN flyer, which also announced the lineup for the final weekend. The week before, OMEN had even opened its doors for one night during the week—an exception to the usual schedule! With Sven on the decks, of course!

In the exhibition "OMEN Club Frankfurt 1988–1998 – New Electronic Ecstasy,“ you’ll find listening stations curated by the OMEN DJs in a recreated DJ booth featuring the OMEN Babies by Stellmacher & Jensen (the actual title of the work is ”Frohe Zukunft") and the original Thorens turntable.
