Behind the Destination: Bell Island #2 Mine Tour and Museum ⛏️

Destination St. John’s is proud to shine a light on the incredible partners we value so deeply. It is all of us working together that makes our destination truly special.

Today we are highlighting the #2 Mine Tour and Museum on Bell Island. Guests are greeted by local guides, many with family ties to the mines themselves, who share the history of 12 year old boys working 10 hour days by candlelight and miners risking their lives nearly 5 kilometres beneath the sea to supply the world with iron ore.

After the tour, guests can warm up with a Miners' Blend coffee and swap stories with fellow visitors, then browse the gift shop for a keepsake to bring home.

Open May 17 to October 4, it's a powerful example of how our region's stories run as deep as the mine itself.
