The St. Marys Museum wishes you a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend! The Museum will be closed over the long weekend and on the holiday Monday (October 12). We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, October 13.

We still have 1891 Town Hall slate roof tiles available in our gift shop! There are so many creative ways to use these tiles, from home décor to food preparation. The tiles are $10 each and all proceeds support the Museum. Please note that our gift shop only accepts cash or cheque.

Our popular Cemetery Walking Tours are back just in time for Halloween! Join the St. Marys Museum in the St. Marys Cemetery (150 Cain St.) to:
🔸 hear the history of St. Marys cemeteries
🔸 walk through the cemetery to see unique and significant graves
🔸 learn how to research your own ancestors using cemetery resources

Today, we encourage everyone to take part in local activities that foster healing, reflection, and learning:

St. Marys Museum
• “Talking about Treaty 29” exhibit – on display through November 30
• Truth and Reconciliation banner created by artist Jeffrey "Red" George will be on display

St Marys Public Library and/or St. Marys Friendship Centre
• Livestream of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation broadcast from Parliament Hill 12:00PM

Stratford Falstaff Family Centre
• National Day for Truth and Reconciliation activities 7:30AM-12:00PM
• Details: Join Oneida First Nation elder and a member of the Turtle Clan, Patsy Day alongside the fire pit and medicine wheel garden, on the grounds of the centre or in the Community Room in the case of inclement weather.

September 28 is British Home Child Day. This day recognizes the history of the more than 100,000 young children who arrived in Canada from Great Britain between 1869 and 1948.

On Saturday, October 17, the Museum will host a presentation on British Home Children. Lori Oschefski, founder and President of Home Children Canada, will explore the challenges these child migrants faced, the hardships of indentured service, and the resilience that led to their success.
