in the Toronto Blue Jays played their last game at Exhibition Stadium. They faced the White Sox, the same team they had played in their inaugural game in 1977, with Toronto winning 7-5. In our collection at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum we have a base from that game autographed by Kelly Gruber who doubled in the 10th when the game was tied 5-5, and became the winning run on the next at bat with a walk-off homerun courtesy of George Bell. On June 5 the Blue Jays debuted in their new home: SkyDome.

Vladdy Dad and Son Featured on Hand-Painted Baseball Glove Artwork

One of the things I enjoy most about commissioned sports artwork is translating personal stories into meaningful objects.

This recently completed baseball glove featuring Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero was built around the theme of family legacy and connection, combining hand-painted portraiture and lettering with authenticated memorabilia — a ball signed by both players.

It is painted on a RawlingsCanada Pro Preferred Vladimir Guerrero Jr. model mitt, the same model that Vladdy uses over at first base for the Toronto Blue Jays. It was a natural choice as the “canvas” for this painting.

I’m grateful as always for the opportunity to create something for a collector that is impactful, out of the ordinary, and that celebrates a baseball story that goes beyond the game on the field.

Interested in commissioning a custom baseball glove artwork of your own? You’re welcome to send me a DM with any questions.
