The Old School House Arts Centre Your community arts centre home to artists & musicians & the people who love to celebrate them. The Board of Education used the building until 1985.

The Old School House Arts Centre houses ten shared Resident artist's studios and is an established public art gallery and art learning centre. Three galleries exhibit Vancouver Island talent, and creative educational programming for all ages and abilities are held throughout the year. The Gallery Gift Shop features the work of over 150 Island Artists. The music program offers a robust concert seri

es throughout the year featuring an eclectic range of genres from acclaimed musicians. The Old School House is a non-profit charitable organization that provides vibrant community programming that is open to all - regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religious affiliation, financial status, age, sexual orientation, political belief, or physical limitation. Our History:

The Old School Arts Centre heritage building was built in 1912 and served the educational needs of Qualicum Beach for both elementary and secondary school until 1952, when a new secondary school was built. The building reverted to an elementary school only until 1976, when a new school was built. As the wrecking ball swung closer and closer to the building, dedicated citizens of the community banded together and formed a non-profit cultural association. With the help of many volunteers, countless hours of hard work and fundraising events, the building was renovated and opened to the public in February 1988

There is something so lovely about the way Heather McAllister brings flowers to life.🌸
A Qualicum Beach-based artist, Heather spent 35 years in education before turning her heart and full attention to her own studio practice. Her work feels joyful, expressive, and wonderfully alive. Filled with colour, texture and deep appreciation for the beauty found in nature.

Calling all artists — the TOSH Kellett Art Prize is open for submissions!
This new juried exhibition celebrates wall-mounted work from artists across Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and Haida Gwaii, with a $1,500 top prize and five further awards of $500. Submissions close September 30, and the exhibition opens right here at TOSH in March 2027.
