This Museum Monday we’re celebrating the 56th annual Canoe the Nonquon. These vibrant patches whether worn on jackets, shirts or even hats represent the heart of Canoe the Nonquon. This year we ask you! Yes, you, what are some of your favorite memories of Canoeing! Did you push yourself through the full lake section to be celebrated by a thunderous applause at the waterfront at the end of Canoe the Nonquon? Maybe one summer many years ago you had a really nice picnic out on your canoe! Share any and all canoe the memories down below, we’d love to hear!

In the days before refrigeration it was almost impossible to keep your meat fresh, especially during the summer months. The Beef Ring would ensure equal distribution of meat between a handful of families.

Can you picture this? In 1839 when photography was first introduced to Canada it was seen as just a novelty. Like most things, with a little bit of time photography became a well respected art form and business.

But what was photography like for people in the Victorian Era? Could you imagine having to stand still for minutes at a time just to have a family portrait taken? That was the truth for Victorian Era photography! Photos were also a special and sparse occasion for the everyday person so you’d always want to make sure you looked the best you could!
