Opening Reception for:
📰 CONVERSATIONS 📰

Thank you to our members and guests who spent time with us this weekend PENTICTON ART GALLERY exploring our current exhibitions.

A warm thank you to The Artist - Briar Craig who enthusiastically shared his many colourful insights and animated stories of how these works in his exhibition “Conversations” came to life.

Briar Craig invites viewers to look closer, read between the lines and consider how language shapes what we believe.

Bringing together works from across his practice, the exhibition explores Craig’s longstanding fascination with words, images and the increasingly complex ways information reaches us.
Text is central to Craig’s mutli-layered screen prints.

Two interactive works in this exhibition offer viewers a chance to untangle what is being said, and reconstruct their own words from the provided text and letters.

“Conversations” asks us to do something increasingly important in a world overflowing with information:
Slow down. Look again.
Question what you’re being told.
Read between the lines.

CONVERSATIONS is on exhibition
@ PAG until January 8, 2027 in
Okanagan & Skaha Galleries

Thank you for being with us Briar Craig 📰🥂

OCTOBER 3 | 📖 WORDS MATTER 📖

Thank you to our members and guests who spent time with us this weekend PENTICTON ART GALLERY exploring our current exhibitions.

A warm thank you to Artist - Helena Wadsley who took us on a guided tour of her solo exhibition “WORDS MATTER” in The Creekside Gallery.

We had the opportunity to listen to Helena’s experiences of transforming books into tactile sculptural forms that invite us to consider the histories, assumptions and biases embedded in language.

Recognizing that what is written, and whose voices are given space, shapes our understanding of history.

In “Words Matter” Helena Wadsley has altered each book in response to its content,
often incorporating textile techniques to reveal a new narrative.

WORDS MATTER is on exhibition
@ PAG until January 15, 2027
In The Creekside Gallery

Thank you for being with us Helena Wadsley 🥂

September 30 |
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

~ Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a day to honour the children who never came home, the survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

It’s also a day for the rest of us to sit with hard truths, listen more than we speak, and reflect honestly on the role our own institutions have played, and continue to play, in this country’s relationship with Indigenous peoples.

At the Penticton Art Gallery, we’re taking today to do that reflecting, and to recommit to the ongoing work of honouring Indigenous history, art, and culture in everything we do. ~

The Gallery will be closed today.
We will reopen on Thursday, October 1.
