MANDATE *

The Peachland Community Arts Council, as a non-profit and charitable organization,
has given a mandate to a Gallery Committee regarding the "Peachland Art Gallery"
in the Mary Smith Hall, in the renovated and unique Peachland Historic School on Peachland's waterfront,

- to work towards providing a dedicated art-related, artist-volunteer-run, community space for the presenting, performi

ng, and educating of all art forms to the public

MISSION

The overall art-related objectives are:

- to showcase the work of local and regional artists
- to expose and inform the public, regarding art in all its facets,
both contemporary and historical
- to provide learning experiences, for young and old, both in artistic expression and
in art appreciation
- to provide a forum for cultural expression through art, for all groups, ethnic and social. VISION *

The long range concepts of the Peachland Art Gallery in the "Mary Smith Hall", are:

- to promote the recognition, enjoyment, and participation of
all art forms, ie literary, performing, visual
- to contribute to the cultural heritage, life and economy of the Okanagan region,
especially with the various publics of Peachland
- to work in partnership with the Municipality, schools, service clubs, businesses, and other
arts- related and supportive organizations
- to raise funds internally, ie PCAC membership, events, projects, and activities
- to seek external grant resources from corporations and foundations

After being forced to close due to the ongoing fires, Peachland Arts Council is very happy to announce that the Peachland Art Gallery re-opened on the 18th of August and we are back in full swing! 😀😀😀

Artist in Studio

August 5th - 30th

This Summer, experience the creative process up close at Peachland Art Gallery.

Each week, several local artists transform the gallery into a working studio, creating original artwork while welcoming visitors to observe, ask questions, and learn more about their techniques and inspiration. Every artist offers a unique glimpse into the journey from blank canvas to finished piece.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the talented artists of the Okanagan, discover the stories behind their work, and gain an appreciation for the skill, creativity, and passion that goes into every piece. The Artist in Studio Summer Program runs throughout August during regular gallery opening hours.

Whether you're an art enthusiast, an aspiring artist, or simply curious, we invite you to drop in, enjoy the conversations, and experience creativity in action.

So the 13th Annual Oasis Exhibition has ended, what a wonderful selection of art. Wasn't it great to meet the artists and discuss their inspirations and techniques.

We had well worthy winners, but was there a work of art that stood out to you?
For myself , seeing the children drawing on the floor of an art gallery brought back happy memories of me as a kid near Glasgow and the school trips to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery. There our teacher would have us sit on the floor with coloured pencils and paper and try (badly) to replicate some of what we saw. Halcyon days!

So what about you? - which one(s) reached out to you and why? We would love to know!
