Do you recognize these filming locations?

The Canadian coming-of-age TV drama film Hockey Night marked early feature roles from Yannick Bisson (Murdoch Mysteries) and Megan Follows (Anne of Green Gables). The story follows Cathy Yarrow, a young girl who joins a boys’ hockey team after moving to Parry Sound.

Ahead of our October 22 screening, we revisited some of the film’s iconic scenes and returned to the very locations where they were filmed. How much has Parry Sound changed over the decades?

🎓🏅 This World Teachers’ Day, we’re celebrating the educators who make a lasting difference!

In 2026, Sue Whitley was inducted into the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame in the Builder category, recognizing her lifelong dedication to athletics, education, and community service.

For many years, Sue taught physical education at Parry Sound High School and coached young athletes on local sports teams. She was a regional coach for the Ontario field hockey team. Beyond the classroom and playing field, she has also made a meaningful impact through her work with the Rotary Club of West Parry Sound.

Through Rotary’s humanitarian projects, Sue has helped raise funds for Hospice and other local charities, while supporting initiatives in countries across the Global South.

Do you know why Sue is also known as “the Dragon Lady”? 🐉 Read more about Sue Whitley’s remarkable journey on the BOHF website: https://bobbyorrhalloffame.com/inductee/

In 2023, the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame redesigned its permanent exhibition. As part of its ongoing response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action 87, the redesign includes a new exhibition space that highlights Indigenous athletes and cultures.

The BOHF is committed to continuing this work through collaboration with Indigenous communities, sports halls of fame, and other relevant organizations. These efforts are intended to support public education and help share the stories and contributions of Indigenous athletes throughout history.

On Truth and Reconciliation Day and beyond, we invite you to pause, remember, and reflect on the past and the ongoing work of reconciliation.
