EXHIBIT ANNOUNCEMENT‼

Murder by the Book: From Fiction to Reality is leaving the Leacock Museum on October 31st. It's been a joy to host this exhibit, but we're making room for our next exhibit, His Name, Her Genius, which opens November 14, 2026.

More information about His Name, Her Genius will be released soon, but come check out Murder by the Book before it closes in two weeks!

Tomorrow is our kids’ Halloween craft at 1:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. 🎃👻💀

Kids will have the choice to create their monster of choice in our historic living room! iSpy cards and activity guides are included in the price!

Tickets can be bought online on our website or purchased at the door on the day of the event. 
Please note, one adult can enter per child ticket purchased.

Additional adults must pay the museum’s admission fee ($5.25+HST).

What exhibits does the Leacock Museum have on right now?

Spellbound: This exhibit displays and explores the enchanting world of fairy tales and uncovers secret messages hidden within the magical stories.

The Children of Old Brewery Bay: This exhibit features information about Stephen Leacock Jr., the Old Brewery Bay Players, and the children who frequented the beautiful property.

Murder by the Book: From Fiction to Reality highlights the history of Murder Mysteries and how reality mirrors the fictional world.

For the Love of Liquor: Learn about Prohibition in Ontario and one of the longest dry towns in the province, Orillia. Discover the role Stephen Leacock played in the repeal of Prohibition in Ontario and his own family’s history in the alcohol industry.

Not pictured above, Leacock and the Montreal Melon are in our Permanent Outdoor Living Exhibit, which is exhibited in our backyard and Boating Old Brewery Bay in our boathouse, which will open back up next spring!

And thats a wrap on Paint by the Lake for the 2026 season.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us this year; it is one of our favourite programs to host! And an even bigger thank you to M. Norwick, our lovely and informative painting instructor. We still have a few seats for our Pumpkins and Pinot event and lots of tickets left for our Paint and Sip nights!

Join us this October for a ghostly walk through Orillia’s haunted historic site. Hear spooky stories, enjoy some refreshments, and maybe even see a ghost along the way 👀

A fantastic way to learn some history, as the stories told on this tour are historically accurate, and the ghost sightings we retell actually happened.

This event takes place October 28-31 at 6 or 8 p.m. Tickets available NOW at LeacockMuseum.ca and are going quickly! 👻 $15 + HST per person, ages 12+ recommended.

Join us for a cozy indoor paint and sip at the Leacock Museum!

Our paint instructor, M. Nowick, will guide participants through basic colour theory and techniques for composing a still painting, using historic artifacts as the subject! The focus will be on creative expression for completing your own painting. Sip on a glass of w**e or a non-alcoholic seasonal drink to add to your autumnal experience.

Space is very limited for these workshops. All materials provided; no experience required.
