Our Educational Programs do something vital ; they bring the Arts back into play with the Sciences, Technology, Math + Engineering. We do this through STEAM based programming; an integrated approach to education. Teaching technology in creative ways together, while focussing on imagination and ingenuity is vital in today’s world. Integrating the Sciences with the Arts helps Kids develop critical &
ethical thinking and creative problem solving. And it allows them to learn through play. New Media Gallery exhibitions presents artists from around the world. Our exhibitions are designed to inspire questions. Through our exhibitions and programs your kids will be introduced to a fascinating and creative world transformed by technology. We also develop adult and professional programming. Our Educational Team includes the Director/Curators + Program Coordinator plus a dedicated staff of experienced Instructors. Our School programs begin with an awe-inspiring exhibition tour and a question/feedback period. Your kids will experience some ground-breaking works of art from around the world; through these works of art they’ll explore and question things like...
• What are the boundaries of space?
• Why are faces important to the world of Biometrics?
• Are there laws to learn from Technology + Nature?
• What are some ethical questions in surveillance?
• How can we hear music from flowers?
• How can genetics identify you?
• Can we hear the mechanical properties of balance?
• What will a human look like in 2100?
• Can you see and hear the speed of light? Then the workshop begins! Each workshop will bring ideas from the exhibition together with BC’s new Core Curriculum. These Big Ideas are applied to a 2 – 3 hour Workshop where a focus on process and inquiry-based learning are key. Building and encouraging a rich process of creativity and imagination in a workshop situation is our thing; we champion individual and collective brainstorming and play! Our School Programs combine technology with traditional and non-traditional materials. Our goal is to break down complex technologies so everyone can build, prototype and invent in a creative way. Kids are freed up to use their wild imaginations and learn core competencies. We hope you'll call us to find out more about all our educational programmes. Chris Jung
