Our museum is now closed until next summer. Thank You to everyone for another wonderful season. We want to extend our sincere thanks to all of our museum friends who supported and visited us throughout the summer. Your continued interest means so much to us. Please continue to follow our page for information on our planned special events coming up.

We are especially grateful for the generous contributions we received from near and far for our O.N.R. Community Quilt Project. Special thanks to GEM Sewing, who coordinated the entire project. Visitors have been truly impressed by the beautiful quilt, which features 40 community-donated quilt squares. We invite you to visit the museum and see this wonderful one-of-a-kind quilt on display.

We want to express our appreciation to our community members and friends from near and far who crocheted and contributed more than 400 squares to our Ms. Claybelt Scarf Community Project. A special thank you goes to The Match Factory for coordinating the project, along with the many volunteers who are helping assemble the squares into two beautiful scarves and a couple of colourful afghans.

Keep an eye out for Ms. Claybelt’s new scarf—we can’t wait to see her all dressed up!

We now have a used book section in our gift shop! This cabinet is filled with local history books that are sure to teach you some new things!!

The community answered our call!

The first scarf for Ms. Claybelt was made by a museum volunteer in 2024 from a repurposed afghan. Ms. Claybelt proudly wore it for two winters before it went missing in January 2025.

We reached out to the community for help finding the missing scarf and later asked for granny squares to create a new one. The response was incredible-nearly 400 granny squares were donated!

Museum volunteers will use the squares to make a new scarf, along with a couple of granny square afghans which will be used in fund raising efforts for the museum to continue preserving our local history.

Artist Spotlight- Charles Paterson

Charles attended Western Technical College and the Ontario College of Art and spent much of his earlier career working on newspaper, magazine and catalogue advertising.
Having earned a living for many years as a commercial artist in Toronto, Charlie chose to retire surrounded by the solitude and serenity of Northern Ontario. He found that his search for subject matter and inspiration became an intriguing and rewarding experience, through the discovery of shifting shapes and shadows of changing light.

Charlie finds delight in all of God's creations and especially enjoys tackling familiar subjects from a different viewpoint. Largely realistic in approach, Charles' work retains the crisp, lean edges acquired during his career as a commercial artist and brings to the viewer an atmosphere and illustrative quality.

This beautiful piece of art is currently on display at our museum! We are open today until 3:30!!
