Our favourite book and the bestseller at our giftshop.
If you want to learn about the Geology, Archaelogy and Palaeontology of Manitoba and how the geological forces and the radical changes in climate chiseled this land during millions of years, this is the book.
And of course, with a dedicated chapter to the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre!
Authors Barbara Huck and Doug Whiteway together with Photographer Peter St.John spent several years visiting dozens of sites to register a comprehensive guide to travel in time and space.
Available also online, we recently acquired a huge stock of 1,000 copies!

Meet Dr. Melina Jobbins, our new Research Associate!!
Melina did an undergraduate in geosciences in France, where she is originally from. She went to Bristol, UK, for her MSc in Palaeobiology and did her PhD in Evolutionary Biology at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, specializing in early vertebrates. In 2023, she came to Canada to continue her work at the University of Manitoba.
As a Research Associate at our institution, she is excited to add to the museum's research output!
She has been already collaborating with the Centre for the last few months, and the very first few scientific results will see the light very soon.
Melina will help to move forward with the Centre's future at the scientific level and help to better understand the life and the environment during the Late Cretaceous in what today is Manitoba.

If there is a person that really knows every corner of Manitoba, on the ground and underground, is Jim Bamburak.
After 42 years of career in Geology as the Senior Geologist for the Manitoba Geological Survey and after 9 more years of retirement, we have been incredibly fortunate to have him in a Dig Adventure Tour together with her granddaughter, another future Geologist and Palaeontologist.
Jim has been a collaborator of the Centre leading field trips many times in the past.
His extensive knowledge and his passion explaining every detail of the rich and complex Manitoba geology leave an indelible mark on anyone sharing a field trip with him.
Thank you, Jim!

We had recently the opportunity of guiding a Museum Tour for the Honorary Vice Consul of Spain in Manitoba Mr. Joaquin Carneiro (right in the photo).
Our Centre has initiated a trade relationship with European countries after a meeting with European Ambassadors and the Government of Manitoba earlier last year, and a first replica skeleton was sold a few months ago to a Palaeontology Museum in Spain.

Our Dig Adventure Tours are running through the whole summer in our natural park-like property at the Manitoba Escarpment. There have been some rainy days and much more with spectacular prairies' blue skies.
No matter what, new mosasaur, fish, shark and turtle bones are being uncovered every day.

Great article today at PembinaValleyOnline.com featuring our new Styxosaurus exhibit.
