Maya Eventov’s work open a space where colour becomes atmosphere. Her richly built surfaces come alive as light moves across the canvas. Textures shift and reveal themselves in unexpected ways as each original painting draws you into a living field of paint and light.

Maya Eventov’s work is represented in galleries throughout Canada, Great Britain, and the United States, and her paintings can be found in private collections of the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien and corporate collections such as the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Toronto.

Paige Ring is a self-taught Toronto based abstract expressionist painter. Paige’s work often showcases gestural strokes, poured paint, layering, and organic marks and scrapes weaving through large areas of colour. Each work becomes a focal point, anchoring any room through its textural richness.

Bruno Capolongo’s encaustic works are built through layers of wax and pigment, creating surfaces that are both tactile and luminous. As light moves across the work, the texture catches and shifts which allows the piece to come alive in its surroundings.

Bruno Capolongo, “Duke Mansion Gardens,”36” x 36,” Encaustic on Canvas

As March gives way to April, Harold Braul’s “Commuter Series” and “Couple with Umbrella” feel perfectly timed as each captures the fleeting, rain-soaked moments of the city.

Umbrellas feel less like objects and more like a part of the experience, shown as symbols of something people instinctively lean into as they move throughout their environment. There is a quiet intimacy in these scenes, that shared understanding of being caught in the same weather and moving at the same pace. Although the figures soften and blur, what comes through is the familiar feeling of a slowed down and introspective walk through the rain, all captured in a soft luminescence.

1. Harold Braul, “Commuter Series,” 40 x 30 inches, oil on canvas
2. Harold Braul, “Couple with Umbrella,” 36 x 36 inches, oil on canvas
