Mrs. Annie Webster (née Worling), churning butter at her home in the 1920s (P01274).

Annie and her husband, James Murray Webster, were among the early settlers of what became known as Webster’s Corners. James (originally from Scotland) began to establish their 160-acre homestead in 1882, with Annie and their eight children joining him two years later from Ontario.

The family’s home included the former one-room Webster’s Corners schoolhouse which was moved across the road and added to the house to become the Webster’s Corners Post Office.

Haney House hours are changing!

We’re excited to share that Haney House will be open on the first Sunday of every month for the rest of 2026!

This change will help us keep this beautiful historic home open to the public year-round.

A new book about Maple Ridge’s history!

The Maple Ridge Museum is pleased to share an upcoming community book launch featuring a story connected to one of Maple Ridge’s early settler families.

On October 3 from 10–11:30 a.m., Lorna Seppala will launch The McIvers and the History of the Maple Ridge Golf Course at the Maple Ridge Golf Course, 20818 Golf Lane.

The McIver family played a significant role in the early history of the municipality. The municipality of Maple Ridge was incorporated in the McIver farmhouse in 1874, and the first council meeting was also held there. The family farm was later converted into a golf course in 1925, which remained connected to the McIver family until the property was sold to the municipality in 1971.

The Maple Ridge Museum is sharing this event announcement on behalf of community member Lorna Seppala, who has documented her family’s history and its connection to the Maple Ridge community.

We’ve reached the final member of our Class of the Past!

For the last stop in our back-to-school trip through the museum archives, we’re heading outside for a lunch break with four high school friends from the 1930s.

🏆 This week’s superlative: BEST LUNCH CREW! 🏆

This c. 1930s photograph (P02883) captures four high school girls enjoying box lunches together on the grass. Good food, good company, and a sunny spot to eat, sounds like a pretty great school day to us!
