Local historian Ian McKechnie will lead us through the rich and fascinating history of downtown Lindsay and its connection to the Legion. He'll share stories of its origins and highlight some of the notable individuals and buildings.
Admission to the event is a non-perishable food donation in support of Kawartha Lakes Food Source.
This event will take place rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. As the ground may be uneven in some areas, we encourage attendees to use extra caution.

Protect Participation. Strengthen Democracy.

Harassment, online abuse, and gender-based intimidation are creating barriers to democratic participation, particularly for women in public life.

This petition calls on City of Kawartha Lakes Council to establish a Civic Participation Working Group to examine these challenges and recommend ways to ensure safe, respectful, and inclusive civic engagement.

On this day in 1953, Eric Stewart wrote to T.H. Stinson about a letter pertaining to the origin of the Ross Memorial Hospital ( ) and a particular letter.

Victoria & Grey Trust Company
Lindsay, Ontario

Dear Mr. Stinson,
There were a lot of old papers and things in several boxes after mother's death which we took down to Sturgeon Point. We didn't go through them until this Summer and amongst other things found this letter from Mr. Ross. I thought if the hospital had any archives or anything like that they would like to have it.

I remember well being told the circumstances of the origin of the hospital. A Mrs. Goldie of Lindsay was a client of father's. Mrs. Goldie was a sister of Jim Grace, who was married to a sister of James Ross. Mrs. Goldie told father that she had been talking to her sister-in-law, Mrs. Grace and Mrs. Grace said that her brother would like to do something for Lindsay in memory of their father and mother. Father suggested the hospital which Mrs. Grace thought would be very acceptable to Mr. Ross. Hence the correspondence.

If the hospital is not interested, I would like to have the letter back.

On this day in 1944, Grace Hunt was aboard the S.S. Princess Elizabeth and sent this postcard to Agatha and Earl Hunt in Coboconk.

Friday afternoon.
Dear Agatha and Earl,
This is exactly where I am at present on board this lovely boat. The ocean is calm and the island is in sight. How I enjoyed seeing the Rockies, they are lovely; I wish you were all with me.
