Twenty years ago, Martin Casselman's neighbour found this large book in a fireplace inside a wall. This is a bound collection of issues of The Evening Post published in Lindsay from July to December 1914! And this happens to be issues we did not have when we undertook the digitization of the Lindsay Post! Martin Casselman has generously donated the book to us, so you can look forward to seeing it online in the future! Thank you, Martin!

New to the Collection! This table was made by hand by William H. Dunford for the Loyal Orange Lodge members to use when signing in on their arrival for meetings. The bottom shelf shows wear from members resting their foot when using the table.

The underside of the table top is inscribed in pencil with "Made + given to L.O.L. No. 384 by Wm H. Dunford in year of our Lord 1917. This may stand here when I am under the green sod. Ever yours. [illegible]"

If you have any information about William H. Dunford or L.O.L. No. 384, we would love to hear it.

Downtown Lindsay is about to get a little more storied 📸

Starting next week, you'll spot 75 new heritage banners on lampposts throughout downtown, featuring historic photos and reflective phrases celebrating our community's history.

This project was made possible through the City of Kawartha Lakes' Legacy C.H.E.S.T. Fund, and with huge thanks to the Kawartha Lakes Museum & Archives, the Lindsay Branch of the Kawartha Lakes Public Library, and the Municipal Archives of the City of Kawartha Lakes for helping with photo content, so that we could bring these stories to life.

Next time you're downtown, take a look up. There will be history on every post.
