The Kelowna Art Gallery offers four different exhibition spaces for visitors to explore both contemporary and historical Canadian art in the heart of downtown Kelowna's Cultural District. We offer four different exhibition spaces for visitors to explore both contemporary and historical Canadian art. The Kelowna Art Gallery is proud to be an inclusive and welcoming space for everyone, especially the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We are a Rainbow Registered business & team who feel ā€” we all belong here. We offer art classes and workshops for adults and teens in the fall and winter, and art camps during spring and summer breaks for children. Our popular Family Sundays offer visitors the chance to get creative with guided hands-on art activities. The Art Lab is a community space that offers a variety of self-guided art activities for visitors to explore. We are dedicated to providing meaningful access and services to ensure our gallery and programs are as accessible and barrier-free as possible. The Gallery hosts a number of events throughout the year, including artistā€™s talks, film screenings, fundraisers, community projects, and other special events. We partner with organizations like Kelowna Pride to provide a welcoming space to host their important community events. Our Permanent Collection houses nearly 1,000 works of art, which can be seen through periodic exhibitions that draw work from the collection. The Kelowna Art Gallery is a registered non-profit society ( -12999).

A Creative Writing class from Okanagan College came to the Gallery today for a full crawl of the exhibitions on view.

We caught up with them on the Kookum-patterned floor of artist Jaimie Isaacā€™s open installation. Booties went on or shoes stayed outside. (Well played.)

They stayed awhile. Great conversations ensued. Quiet happened too.

ā€˜Kookum Lounge' is found in our inner courtyard until September 2027. There's time and space for your visit as well. Will we see you soon?

Sharni Pootoogookā€™s "Untitled" (2002) drawing brings a vibrant energy to the page with its bold, stylized avian figure, and striking black-ink texture.

For some, Thanksgiving can bring to mind a turkey, but this bird is far from anyone's dinner. The expressive linework captures a sense of movement and spirit that feels alive on the page.

Sharni Pootoogook (1922ā€“2003) was an Inuk artist from Kinngait (Cape Dorset), Nunavut. She was part of the early generation of artists who helped establish the international importance of Inuit graphic art.

A few months after the 2023 McDougall Creek wildfire, the artist walked into the burned forest near her home. The trees were charred, stark figures against the blue sky, their lyrical forms unexpectedly beautiful.

Weaving is easier to understand with a loom in front of you.

The Makerā€™s Space in 'Skillful' has everything you need: small looms, yarn, and instructions at the table. No experience required. Pick your colours, work a few rows, add a button, or perhaps some fringe if you like.

Itā€™s a good way to understand Jane Kiddā€™s stunning tapestries. They're built from the same basic move youā€™ll be making at the table, one thread over and under the next.

The Makerā€™s Space is included with admission. Half Off Thursdays mean just $5 (or $4 Students/Seniors). Open till 8 pm.

Glass is fragile. Bronze is strong. Artist Lou Lynn marries them beautifully in the same tool.

Lynn collects the implements of carpenters, shipwrights, shoemakers, and gardeners, then reimagines them at an exaggerated scale for tasks that don't exist. She calls it the "archaeology of daily life."

SAVE THE DATE: The puck drops Saturday, October 17, at 11 am.

Hear how hockey culture, the arena, and a lifetime around the game find their way into his exhibition 'Wackem Sackem.' Get the goods about the work straight from the horse (artist). Bring your questions, memories of ā€˜72, and stories to share and swap.

Born and raised in Kelowna, Glenn Clark holds a Fine Arts diploma with distinction from Okanagan College and a BFA from the University of Calgary. He spent years at the Penticton Art Gallery as preparator, educator, and eventually director-curator.

Okanagan audiences may know his Elks Hall mural in Penticton, which shows the 1955 Vees at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Now retired from playing hockey, Clark paints it instead.

Join us for Family Sundays, every weekend from 10 am to 5 pm on (yup, you guessed it) Sunday.

Drop in with the kids (or come with friends... all ages welcome) and join our friendly staff for a hands-on art activity. Activities take about 45 minutes, and there's no registration. Cost | $6 per person
