Celebrate another summer with Fort Saskatchewan’s beloved turf-trimmers at the Sheep Leaving Parade on Monday, September 7.

🕚 11:00 am: Arrive
🎤 11:15 am: Opening remarks and safety briefing
🐑 11:30 am: Sheep Leaving Parade
🥕 Noon – 1:00 pm: Feed the sheep carrots

📍 Fort Heritage Precinct, 10006 – 100 Avenue

After the parade, stick around to feed the sheep carrots. The City will provide enough for everyone to join in!

Then it’s farewell for now — they’ll be baaack next spring. 🐑

The sheep are heading home for the season, and we’re sending them off with one last parade.

Join us Monday, September 7 at the Fort Heritage Precinct.

🐑 11:30 am: Parade begins
🥕 Noon - 1:00 pm: Feed the sheep carrots

The City will provide the carrots, so just bring yourself, your family and your best sheep-watching skills.

Behind every exhibit, event and historic building is a team passionate about bringing Fort Saskatchewan's stories to life. Meet the Stewards of the Precinct and get to know the people who help preserve our history and create memorable experiences for every visitor.

Meet Julianne Hofstede, Program Assistant.

"I absolutely love working in these buildings; it brings a sense of magic and purpose to everything I do here."

Julianne's favourite resident is Old Buck, the taxidermy horse in the stables. He never fails to spark curiosity and start conversations with visitors of all ages.

Did you know? The North West Mounted Police Fort once had two black bears as mascots! Their time at the Fort came to an end after they developed a habit of trying to raid the kitchen for snacks during the winter.

Hear Our Voices: Michel People & Residential Schools opens July 17 at Fort Heritage Precinct.

This multimedia exhibition shares the first-hand effects of the Residential School system as experienced by the Michel Band, through video testimonials and historical information, inviting visitors to listen, learn, and reflect on the intergenerational effects of Canada's residential school system.

Our woolly local celebrities are back in the parks, helping manage grass naturally while stealing the spotlight wherever they graze.

August is your last full month to catch them before they head home for the season. Visit Thursday through Sunday from 11:30 am to 7:00 pm to see them in action.

📍 Thursdays: Arrive at Fort Heritage Precinct around noon
📍 Sundays: Head home starting at 6:00 pm

A few ways to help keep our famous flock happy:
• Keep voices low and movements calm
• No running or shouting
• Let the sheep come to you—they're a friendly bunch!

It’s almost time to say farewell to Fort Saskatchewan’s beloved turf-trimming sheep. Join us for the Sheep Leaving Parade on Monday, September 7 and help send our woolly friends home for the season.

11:00 am: Arrive
11:15 am: Opening remarks and safety briefing
11:30 am: Sheep Leaving Parade
Noon - 1:00 pm: Feed the sheep carrots

📍 Fort Heritage Precinct, 10006 – 100 Avenue

Come for the parade, stay to feed the sheep! The City will provide enough carrots for everyone.
