Coming soon! Sacred Forms: Remembering Your Place in the Living World

Sacred Forms invites you to step into a space of reflection and recognition to remember that we are not separate from the living world, but expressions of it. The new exhibit pairs the intricate mixed-media paintings of Dr. Cathy Key with the intriguing sculptural figures of Louise Solecki Weir — two artists working in different mediums whose pieces carry a quiet psychological intensity that is tender, empowered, and of the earth.

An incredible amount of passion, planning, and hard work goes into making each exhibit come to life. Booking the artist, confirming dates, transporting the exhibition, unpacking each work, and thoughtfully hanging each piece to truly honor the artist's vision. By the time you walk in and experience the gallery, you're seeing the result of months of dedication — all so we can share something truly special with you!

Lots of laughs in the ‘preview’ performance of The Taming of the Shrew at the Cowichan Public Art Gallery last evening! 😆😂🤣 The big cast and crew of the Shawnigan Players put on a great show. Fun to be within only a few feet from the ‘stage’.

The World Health Organization says what many of us have known for some time: art is good for us!
In its landmark review of more than 3,000 studies, the WHO found that “the arts can play a major role in the prevention of ill health, promotion of health, and management of illness across a lifespan.”
Not just making art, simply viewing it matters too.
A gallery visit, a few quiet moments with a painting, seeing something that makes you stop and feel...it all counts!
And really, adding a little art to your life might be easier than remembering your vitamins.
This summer, add a visit to the Cowichan Public Art Gallery to your to-do list. We have incredible exhibitions in a beautiful space, Art in the Alley, and Art in the Garden.
Time to get your art on!!
