Curiosity House Bookstore & Gallery is an independent bookstore with an emphasis on quality literature for adults and children, programming and author events. Our staff is friendly, articulate and well-read – always interested in making a recommendation. We have a great selection of books, but we know that you might be looking for something which isn’t easily found in a small bookstore. If we don’

t have what you want in stock, we will be happy to special order any title which is currently in print. We even have an art gallery in the store, which shows the works of a different artist every month. For your convenience, we are open seven days a week from 10 AM to 5 PM, except for Saturdays, when we are open from 9 AM to 5 PM. We are closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day

Anyone else as excited yet about the World Cup?! I picked up this cute FIFA bear and thought he’d be perfect for our footie table.

No FIFA octopuses to be found anywhere sadly 🐙.

I will be supporting both Canada and England (justFYI) until one or both go out. Or, of course actually win!!

Go Creemore 10k runners!!🏃 🏃‍♀️

There's a 10K running past our front door on Sunday 🏃. woot!

The first-ever Creemore 10K starts and finishes just up the street at Creemore Springs - which means a whole lot of runners will be lacing up about 30 seconds from our shop.

We're a bookshop, not a running shop. But I (Joel, co-owner) am a runner, so I've been quietly building out a shelf of running books I love. A few firm favourites on it right now:

📖 Better Faster Farther - the story of how women broke into competitive running and keep getting faster
📖 100 Runs of a Lifetime - National Geographic's bucket list of the world's great races
📖 Eat and Run - Scott Jurek's ultrarunning memoir
📖 This Is Not About Running - Mary Cain's blistering memoir on youth sports culture
📖 Running Wild - the most beautiful trail runs on the planet

Come find them on the shelf this weekend. And if you're racing — good luck, we'll be cheering.

🐙✨ Octosprinklepuss Storytime is nearly here - woohoo!

The end of May means one thing at Curiosity House: it's time for our favourite ink-slinging, sprinkle-loving cephalopod to take centre stage. 🐙

To celebrate, we've put together a little collection of our favourite children's books this month - some brand new, some beloved classics, some perfect for reading aloud together, and some for those who like to find a quiet corner and disappear into a story. (We support all kinds of readers equally and enthusiastically.)

Fair warning: choosing just one each was genuinely difficult. Also: we may have a slight octopus problem in this shop. We regret nothing. 🐙

🍺📚 Beer & Books is BACK!

We are beyond thrilled to welcome the legendary Terry Fallis to Creemore Springs Brewery for the second instalment of our Beer & Books series this June!

Terry is one of Canada's most beloved authors - he is twice winner of the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour - and he's bringing some of that wry Canadian humour with his new book The Marionette back to Creemore! Expect a reading, a lively Q&A, and great conversation at the brewery.

Haven't discovered Terry's work yet? The Marionette introduces James Norval - writer-turned-daring-hero-of-his-own-spy-thriller. I'm bouncing my way through it now: it's sharp, funny, and unmistakably Canadian in the best possible way.
