Family ties and a strong community

This stunning Double Killer Whale or Orca Panel is hand-carved in red cedar by Kwakwaka'wakw artist Morris Johnny. It features a small and large Orca swimming together in unity.

A new spyhop sculpture has arrived by talented Kwakwaka'wakw artist Rod Smith. Beautifully painted as always, with strong fluid lines. There have been many special Orca sightings recently around Vancouver Island, with pods putting on a show for lucky viewers.

The Orca or Killer Whale has strong family ties; they are part of a large community, travelling together and forming everlasting bonds.

This is a special piece for anyone looking to be reminded of unity and togetherness.

Spence Shaw reflects on his Mourning Mask and the inspiration for the piece:
"It's a self-portrait, Mourning Mask. It represents all the people i've lost in my family over the past, short while. It was quite important for me to create."
On his journey creating the piece, "it was like a mourning experience. Lots of happy moments, lots of sad moments."

This Shaman Pendant is expertly hand-carved in yew wood by Haida Master Carver Ron Russ.
