Lecture: Source Encounters in the Comox Lake Watershed

Source Encounters explores the geological origins of Vancouver Island, prehistoric oceans and ice ages, indigenous, colonial and settler presence on the landscape, land ownership complexities, and the climate change, human impacts, and environmental issues our watershed faces today. Through powerful images and compelling stories, Source Encounters is all about building knowledge, encouraging dynamic conversations, and inspiring action to help ensure a healthy, climate resilient watershed for future generations.
Presenter: Meaghan Cursons. Meaghan a fiery community connector with a passion for storytelling. In her 30 years in the Comox Valley she has worked as a nonprofit leader and board member across environmental, heritage, economic development, culture, tourism, and education sectors. She is the executive director of the Cumberland Community Forest Society, a watershed protection educator for the Comox Valley Regional District, vice chair of the Comox Valley Art Gallery, and an in-demand collaborator, public speaker, facilitator and event producer who brings people together to celebrate culture, community and the natural environment.
Source Encounters is a FREE event as part of Watershed Awareness Days and is a Connected by Water initiative, a project of the CVRD's Watershed Protection Plan to build capacity, connections and community in support of watershed protection in the Comox Valley.
