The Cobalt Mining Museum The Cobalt Mining Museum strives to preserve the history of Cobalt. We are open Thursday - Sunday 10 AM to 4 PM

Mine tours are available till August 30th.

The mining museum owns a number of artifacts and photographs dating back to the early days of the silver rush. Over 6000 photographs have been digitized for their collection. The museum displays several original paintings by Richard Ferrier depicting local mine head frames. These were donated to the museum by the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame to commemorate 100 years of silver in 2003. It also houses an extensive collection of mining books, maps and articles pertaining to the mining history of the area in the Ignatius MacDonald Library. Cultural artifacts from Cobalt history are also on display and souvenirs are available at the gift shop.The Mining Museum is situated on 24 Silver Street. The Museum hours of operation change seasonally. Museum Admission:

Adults – $8.00 + tax
Seniors and Students – $6.00 + tax
Children under 6 are free
Group Rate (5 - 20 people) - $5.00 + tax per person
Group Rate (20+ people) - $4.00 + tax per person

Mine Tour (Includes Museum Admission):

Seniors and Students - $15.00 + tax
Children under 6 are free

👻🦊 We have heard you, and we plan to deliver!

For the first time this year, we will be offering limited Ghost Walk tours in the evening on Saturdays October 17th and October 24th!

Get ready for Cobalt Ghost Walk AFTERDARK!

Experience the tour with the added ambiance of a cool October night to send chills up your back as you hear our latest tales of terror and mystery!

As always, please arrive early, so we can ensure you start your tour with your assigned guide. We cannot guarantee makeup time slots if a time is missed, as tickets are limited to 12 per tour group. Tours are about an hour long.

Please dress for the weather, and if you bring your dog, please ensure they are on a leash, and that you pick up after them.

Proceeds from the tour benefit the Cobalt Mining Museum and the Bunker Military Museum.

🐕🦊 With Ontario Culture Days 2026 finished, thank you to everyone who came out to see the Dogs of Cobalt exhibit, sent in their photos of their dogs for the community collage, participated in the Cobalt the Dog Colouring Contest, and trekked around Cobalt following the Cobalt the Dog's Furtastic Tour!

If you haven't seen the exhibit or the collage, it will be up until November 14th at the Mining Museum.

Cobalt the Dog's Furtastic Tour will also be available until the end of October for a different tour around town.

Finally, congratulations to Seija and Ben, who were selected as winners of the Cobalt the Dog Colouring Contest! You can pick up your prize starting this coming Thursday! 🦊🐕

🐕🦊 Les Journées de la culture de l’Ontario 2026 étant désormais terminées, nous tenons à remercier tous ceux qui sont venus découvrir l’exposition « Les chiens de Cobalt », qui ont envoyé des photos de leurs chiens pour le collage communautaire, qui ont participé au concours de coloriage « Cobalt le chien » et qui ont parcouru Cobalt en suivant le circuit « Furtastic Tour » de Cobalt le chien!

Si vous n’avez pas encore vu l’exposition ou le collage, sachez qu’ils seront présentés jusqu’au 14 novembre au Cobalt Mining Museum.

La « Furtastic Tour » de Cobalt le chien sera également disponible jusqu’à la fin d’octobre pour une autre visite guidée de la ville.
