Our preservation extends further than the Homestead buildings...we even work to preserve the trees!

Difficult to spot unless you are in the ""right"" spot, here you can see the ties that are supporting this old Box Elder (aka Manitoba Maple) tree. 🌳

We had an arborist check on the health of this tree as it sits directly next to the Duffy Homestead. 🌳

While the tree is healthy, these lines will ensure that if the tree is damaged, the branches will fall away from the Homestead, ensuring its preservation. 🌳

We take restoration seriously!

In a dry shed outside of the Duffy Homestead used to sit a stock of reclaimed wood. 🌲

While most of what we are using in our restoration is original, some pieces need to be supplemented from outside sources.

The drawers you can see in this picture were used to create a large storage hutch that sits next to the fireplace.

Stay tuned to see the hutch tomorrow...

August is traditionally the hottest month of the year in Ontario—and one of the most popular for vacations. With warm weather, school breaks, and longer days, it’s the ideal time to enjoy everything our region has to offer. Tourism is at its peak, and for good reason!

With so much going on in the world, there’s never been a better time to slow down and rediscover the incredible local gems right here in Caledon and across Ontario. Whether you’re planning a day trip, attending a fun event or concert, hiking a scenic trail, booking a camping getaway, or searching for a restaurant with a great patio—there’s truly something for everyone.

To help inspire your next summer adventure, Visit Caledon has a few helpful resources…

These wooden alphabet and number blocks were found at the bottom of the water cistern that we uncovered.

They are a child’s learning toy block set, 1900's era. 🅰️ 🅱️ 🔠

These blocks likely belonged to Walker Duffy or any of his three sisters. They all probably played with them as young children.

Some have the letters stamped in them rotted away while others surprisingly are still legible.

When we purchased the Duffy Homestead back in 2018, the natural bricks had been painted white.

In this photo, you can see some white bricks against the bricks that we attempted to clean off.

In the end, we couldn’t get the bricks cleaned thoroughly enough and so each brick was removed, turned around, and put back in place.

Not only did this help us get the look that we desired, it allowed us to keep the original materials and ensure that nothing was wasted. Both of which are major goals for our restoration project.

Making connections just became much easier!

The Town of Caledon is taking another step toward offering residents sustainable transit options through a new partnership with Argo Transit. Through this pilot partnership, an on-demand ride service will be available within select communities.

Starting in Fall 2026, the 15-month pilot program will introduce Argo’s on-demand transit service in Caledon, enabling riders to pre-book trips or request rides in real time through a mobile app or by phone.

The pilot will serve Bolton, Caledon East, and Mayfield West/Southfields, enabling the Town to evaluate the performance of an on-demand transit model within the local context. The service will also provide connections to Brampton Transit, York Region Transit, and GO Transit.

The pilot supports our broader transportation objectives by expanding transit options to improve mobility and accessibility within the Town while also broadening connections to neighbouring transit services and communities by exploring solutions that can adapt to changing travel patterns in one of Ontario’s fastest-growing communities.

The Town of Caledon is conducting a Transit Feasibility Study for our municipality. You can find existing transit services in Peel Region.

It is !

A beautiful antique right from the family reserves…🎼

This 1930's Rogers Radio was once owned by Mercy Duffy.

It is interesting to imagine the family gathered around this sole source of entertainment…
