Welcome to … !

Symphyotrichum ontarionis aka Ontario Aster!

Ontario aster is a late-summer and fall blooming perennial.

Fall blooming flowers such as asters are especially important to ensure that pollinators such as Bumblebee Queens have the energy they need before going into hibernation. Late blooms are also important for migrating species such as Monarch butterflies who need to stock up on energy for their trip to Mexico. You will commonly find both Bumblebees and Monarchs on Asters.

Today is !

A day to recognize bees for their contribution to humans' everyday lives and as a means of protecting this critical species. Bees are under threat due to pesticide use, habitat loss, and climate change. 🐝 🐝 🐝

Bees are essential to maintaining biodiversity and promoting pollination for both natural flora and for the food that is farmed.

Not only do our honey bees provide us with honey but they protect the biodiversity on the Duffy Homestead!

In addition to private tours, we are now open for walk-ins on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am-4pm. For questions or bookings, send us a dm or email: [email protected]
