𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭/ Pieter Walcarius

During 𝐆𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤, we bring the work of 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘂𝘀 to the gallery.

Within our overarching theme, 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍, this tension takes shape in paper.

Using a scalpel, glue and fragments from old books and magazines, Walcarius constructs imaginary cities where architecture loses its original function. Buildings become shapes, streets become lines, while nature and geometry merge.

His carefully composed collages reveal worlds that no longer follow the logic of reality. Moving between structure and intuition, the familiar and the strange, his paper universes invite us to wander, and lose ourselves in a new one.

𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 /

Tijdens 𝐆𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 brengen we het werk van 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘂𝘀 naar de galerie.

Binnen ons overkoepelende thema 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐄 krijgt deze wrijving vorm in papier.

Met een scalpel, lijm en fragmenten uit oude boeken en tijdschriften bouwt Walcarius imaginaire steden waarin architectuur haar oorspronkelijke functie verliest.

Gebouwen worden vormen, straten worden lijnen, terwijl natuur en geometrie in elkaar overvloeien.
Zijn zorgvuldig opgebouwde collages onthullen werelden die niet langer de logica van de werkelijkheid volgen.
Bewegend tussen structuur en intuïtie, het vertrouwde en het vreemde, nodigen zijn papieren universums ons uit om rond te dwalen, en onszelf te verliezen in een nieuwe.

During 𝐆𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤, we are bringing the work of 𝐌𝐚𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬 to the gallery.
Within our overarching theme 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍, Maarten explores what friction can mean: between the familiar and the alien, between beauty and discomfort, between the everyday and the uncanny. His works deliberately evoke a sense of unease and carry a 𝐋𝐲𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧, 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞, as if stepping into a familiar world where something is not quite right.

It is time to bring his work to Ghent and experience it not only digitally, but above all live.

Summer may be starting, but things are quietly taking shape behind the scenes.

A slower surface doesn’t mean less movement, quite the opposite. Conversations, ideas, and new directions are slowly coming together, building towards something bigger.

September will mark an important moment. And beyond that, a new chapter is waiting to unfold.

For now, I’ll leave a little space for curiosity.

At Ligne Claire Art, each project unfolds through a curated selection of five works, culminating in a studio visit and/or film, offering a considered encounter with both the work and the artist.

IN DE STUDIO MET CATH CLAEYS

Het werk van Cath Claeys beweegt tussen abstractie en herinnering, tussen intuïtie en verstilling. Haar schilderijen ontstaan laag per laag, zoekend naar evenwicht, ruimte en rust. Zonder vaste narratieven laten de werken bewust plaats voor interpretatie, uitnodigingen om trager te kijken en even stil te vallen.

Via kleur, textuur en ritme creëert Claeys een beeldtaal die tegelijk persoonlijk en universeel aanvoelt.

Volgende week zondag kunnen bezoekers haar verhaal én werk ook persoonlijk komen ontdekken en ervaren.
