At the wonderful age of eighty, Toshiko Fujiyama is a shining reminder that there is no age limit to creativity, curiosity or learning new skills.

Toshiko’s exquisite works are quietly and contemplatively crafted in the solitude of her studio in Japan, where the two countries and cultures she calls home — Japan and Australia — meet in forms inspired by nature.

Toshiko’s artistic journey began as a celebrated wood carver, creating intricate works by hand. Those finely honed skills have found a beautiful new expression in her ceramics, where carved, hand-built forms are layered with delicate textures — a nod to her enduring love of fabric and textile design.

There is something wonderfully serene about these pieces. Toshiko’s quiet presence seems to emanate through every considered mark and texture. Each work is made to be touched, held, or to hold the simple beauty of flowers and foliage.

A truly special collection from a remarkable maker 🌿

There is something deeply grounding about Julie Lundgren-Coulter’s paintings. Dramatic yet quietly contemplative, every brush mark carries the story of the landscape itself.

Created using natural earth pigments on canvas, Julie’s works have a genuine connection to the country that inspires them. Charcoal from old tree debris burned on her South Gippsland farm. Sand, gravel and clay gathered from local roadside cuttings. Ochres collected on journeys through the Australian outback.

Earth transformed into art, inspired by the gentle rolling hills and expansive horizons of rural Victoria.

We’re delighted to welcome these beautiful new works to Julie’s collection at Town & Country Gallery.

Guardians of the forest, keepers of the streams... ✨

As Susan Davies’ ethereal figures emerge from their unformed clay body, qualities, words and fragments of stories drift through her subconscious. Artist and medium enter an immersive conversation, each guiding the other toward what is waiting to be revealed.

‘It is like meeting a friend you’ve known all along,” Susan reflects, describing the magical process of discovery that unfolds with every sculpture. Through gesture, texture and delicate surface decoration, she imbues each figure with a unique spirit and narrative.

There is something almost otherworldly about these works. The pale glazes, upward gazes and subtle blue-grey tones; like winter spirits, each embodies a quiet wisdom, a sense of stillness, wonder, and guardianship 🤍

Stop by our front window, to pause and enjoy Susan’s works, or explore the collection via our website.

Coral Minster continues to captivate us with each new painting in her ‘The Peace of Wild Things series’ 🍃

Coral admits that painting ‘small’ is outside her comfort zone, but for the many admirers of her work who don’t have space for larger paintings, she’s created three stunning 100x100cm works (with a fourth on the way).

These smaller paintings, oil on canvas, possess the same depth, beauty and emotional resonance that define Coral’s larger works; all inspired by her spiritual home, the wilderness of East Gippsland.

From burnished autumn willows lining the Avon River, to gentle shimmering reflections and the luminous stillness of a moonlit Tambo River, each painting evokes a profound sense of place, belonging and awe.

Call in to experience these beautiful new works in person, we’re open daily 10-4.30, or explore Coral’s collection on our website:

A celebration of light in all its glorious, ever-changing moods 🌤️

Dawn Stubbs’ latest works capture the changing character of East Gippsland’s landscapes. Golden dawns, moody skies, fading sunsets and moments where light briefly transforms the ordinary into magical memories 🧡

With expressive brushwork and a deep connection to place, Dawn invites us to pause and notice the beauty and wonder in nature’s fleeting transitions.

From skate park to serving plate... there’s something wonderfully nostalgic about these funky, handcrafted skateboard plates by John Stewart.

Made from pre-loved Canadian rock maple skateboards, each plate carries the story of its former life — worn graphics, grinding marks and all.

Rather than letting broken boards end up in landfill, John transforms them into funky, one-of-a-kind pieces that sit beautifully between art, sustainability and functionality.

Finished with food-safe tung oil, they’re perfect conversation pieces for your table or as eye-catching wall art.

A little piece of skate culture, reimagined. 🛹👌

There’s something quietly evocative about Julie Goldspink’s latest works that captures my dream life perfectly.

Perhaps it’s my late mid-life fascination with waves, particularly being on them 🌊 that stirred an instant connection with ‘Sea Spray’, Julie’s magnificent and energetic ocean painting, where the movement and power of the water feels almost tangible.

Equally captivating are her atmospheric coastal works ‘Late Stroll at Dusk’ and ‘Faithful Friends I & II’; gentle reflections of beachside living, evening skies, and those treasured daily walks with loyal doggos along the shoreline.

Julie has such a beautiful way of capturing both the drama and serenity of the coast through watercolour. These paintings invite you to pause, breathe deeply, and imagine salt air, rolling waves, and sand beneath your feet 🩵

Watercolour on paper, framed under glass:

• Sea Spray — 56 x 76cm,
framed 88 x 107cm

• Late Stroll at Dusk — 31 x 50cm,
framed 61 x 80cm

• Faithful Friends I — 59 x 20cm,
framed 87 x 47cm

• Faithful Friends II — 59 x 20cm,
framed 87 x 47cm

Happy Mother’s Day…
To our beautiful mothers and mother figures 🧡
the hearts that shape us with love, wisdom, and grace ###

While many of us are fortunate to have our mothers beside us to celebrate this special day; it is also a time to reflect on and remember the women who have believed in us, guided us, grounded us, and gently picked us up when life has left us feeling broken. A quiet pillar of strength and support through all seasons of life.

Today, I acknowledge my beautiful Mum, Val. Thank you for the example you continue to set as a genuinely selfless, generous and deeply caring human being.
You quietly keep showing up for others… soup, sweet treats, casseroles, conversation, cuppas, and champagne, never seeking praise or anything in return, always giving with grace, and an open heart. The lives of all those you touch are truly richer and more blessed because of you 🧡

From windswept alpine slopes to quiet suburban walking tracks, across endless horizons, sunburnt outback plains and majestic cliff faces, Emma Niehof’s latest works are layered with stories embedded in the land 🧡

With a respectful nod to Fred Williams, Emma’s intentionally abstract paintings invite an emotional connection to the Australian landscape through texture, open space and a distinctly earthy palette.

Subtle washes of colour speak of dry, arid resilience, while richer textures and expressive brushstrokes suggest renewal, vegetation, water catchments and ancient rock formations.

Inspired by travels across our diverse and timeless continent with husband Frank, these beautiful new works capture both the fragility and enduring spirit of the Australian natural environment.
