Bladensburg is the closest national park to Winton, and an excellent place to visit. The old homestead has been converted to the Ranger Station, and there is a little information centre there too.

Admire the scenery of the Mitchell Grass Downs and Channel Country, and the unique wildlife of the area.

You can follow the self-drive Route of the River Gum to explore the park in your vehicle. In dry conditions it is accessible to all vehicles. Allow at least three hours and ensure you have adequate supplies like water, food, and sun protection.

Please note you cannot currently camp in the National Park, as facilities have been damaged by flooding and repairs are not finished.

Pick up a copy of the Route of the River Gum from the Waltzing Matilda Centre and enjoy the drive!

You can purchase a geocache kit from the Waltzing Matilda Centre or online at the Outback Way Store.

Just arrived in Winton and wondering what to see?

One thing we recommend is checking out the beautiful sculptures along Elderslie Street! They celebrate notable attractions and characters from Winton's past and present.

It's an excellent way to discover the character of the town, and while you're walking down main street, make sure to check out all the other businesses too!

Travelling with a furry friend? There's plenty to do in Winton with your pets, so don't think your options are limited!

- The Royal Open Air Theatre allows dogs to come along to film screenings. However, just like their humans, they can't talk during the movie!
- The Crackup Sisters will welcome your four-legged friend to their Dustarena too.
- Winton has its very own dog park. It's located on Chirnside Street and dogs can play off-leash there.
- Various establishments like our cafes and pubs have outdoor seating where you can sit with your pets.

Please note you should maintain control of your pet at all times, and they should remain on their leash. Each business reserves the right to ask you to leave if pets are excessively disruptive.
