Surprise! Guess who is in the gallery today trying to get stuff sorted for Maggie Tierney and her schedule of exhibition plans behind the scenes. Many of you know I was pretty banged up in an accident recently, and my year hasn’t gone quite to plan. We’ll also have Sophie Seeger as a guest in residence for the next three weeks working on a commission piece, and I’m sure if the roller door is up, she’ll let you have a wander.

Mainly I’m wheeling myself around in the chair, and pointing at Adrian to be my arms, but if there’s something you’ve wanted to see it’s a good day to stop by. Here until about 2-3pm.

We will be open to the public again for exhibitions this coming October! First up we have the delightfully talented Joshua Bollback Buttler with his first solo exhibition in Newcastle! We look forward to sharing more about this artist soon.

We are loving receiving entries for our group exhibition later this year with the theme of ‘HOME!’ Check this stunning photographic entry by artist Scott Rawsthorne

Title: Patience.

Medium. Street Photography, printed in Archival pigment print on fine art paper.

I took this street photograph while wandering through my old neighbourhood of Lewisham, South East London. On Sundays, the African community dresses in their finest and heads to church, filling the streets with a strong sense of pride and belonging. I noticed this woman standing elegantly at a bus stop. As I pressed the shutter, sunlight lit the shelter, giving her a beautiful glow. When I showed her the photo, she smiled and said, “My name is Patience.”

Ooooooooooooooo. We like a lot. Keep sending your submissions in friends! This one is going to be moving :)

We’re still closed my friends out there. I’m off to the UK tomorrow, part of that is headed to Germany to meet the team that facilitated my bone marrow transplant. There’s much to do, and this year will see significant change (all terrifying, all glorious).

Studios are ready to go, so hit me up on my return. The retail gallery has some exciting announcements coming too (you will want to be on the mailing list for that one!)

It’s official, we are converting the retail area .gallery into space for 4 studios in the new year. It’s definitely happening, and we’re playing around with layouts. If you’re wanting to create with good company, and have a gallery space at the ready, with all kinds of other perks - let us know. X

A massively vulnerable share from me this morning which felt incredibly hard, but also just as necessary with the closing out of ‘the ‘pause.’

I find this video stuff a bit ick, but to honour the stories these beautiful artists were brave enough to share, and to be completely authentic about the conversation this show created space for, this is me being brave and showing up authentically.

Hormones huh! What the actual f*ck?!? But let’s keep talking about it, so we can bring gentleness and compassion to the table too. It can be quite dark there, and your mind can be a lonely place.

To the magical people who noticed I wasn’t myself, and those who held me this last little bit and got in that lifeboat with me even when it felt like I was drowning in murky waters, this is one of those times I’ll remember forever.
