Selected artist MICHELLE GOW for HOME.

Artwork Statement —

Taking Hold I–IV considers what happens when a place abandoned by one life form becomes shelter for another.

A rather diverse showcase we have coming up. Looking forward to sharing all the stories and art soon.

HOME opening 28th November 3pm-6pm

Across fractured surfaces of metal, leather and charred timber, deterioration becomes a point of transition rather than an ending. Lichen begins to take hold within seams, ruptures and damaged surfaces, quietly inhabiting a structure that has been left behind.

What we might recognise as corrosion, decay and loss becomes, for another form of life, shelter and a place to belong. The work considers home not as something fixed or exclusively human, but as something that can be reclaimed, adapted and inhabited again.

Presented together as a four-part window grid, the works offer separate views into the same changing structure — moments in which abandonment and renewal exist simultaneously.

Open today from 11am-3pm! Come see ‘Re’ by Joshua Bollback Butler and bring Maggie Tierney a coffee or a cuddle :)

Chris Byrnes for HOME.

We will be announcing the official line up for our end of year exhibition very soon! For now here is one work from a artist in a talented line up - Chris Byrnes

Capturing HOME in her signature style and skilled way, Byrnes brings us a landmark Newcastle locals love dearly through a dark and gothic looking image.

Chris Byrnes AKA Lady Camera Obscura
Nobbys 4 Pinhole View (BW)
2002
Photograph
Image 50cm w x 40 cm h plus small frame (float mounted)

Hand printed by artist, silver gelatin pinhole photograph from an original paper negative, which was created inside a simple homemade cardboard box camera.

HOME never looked so good.

Suburban Alchemy is now on at Timeless Textiles Gallery !

Nicole de Mestre explores the transformative potential of discarded materials and the overlooked resources embedded within everyday urban life. Found objects, industrial remnants and household waste-all destined for landfill-are collected from the suburban
landscape and reimagined.

Sometimes the real magic is hiding in the pile marked FREE.
