The Somerset Model Railway Club can’t wait to show off their Brisbane Valley Line project. Proudly sponsored by the Lowood Fernvale Community Bank (Bendigo), the team have been re-creating the layout of the old Lowood Station and Shunting Yards, a historical piece of the valley’s history.
They haven’t forgotten younger train enthusiasts, Thomas will be chuffing around on the Nutbush Track at the display beside old Toogoolawah Railway Station.

The beloved cow at the Toogoolawah History Museum is set to receive a vibrant makeover as part of the upcoming Town Celebrations. Local artist Susan McConnel will be painting live on Market Day, refreshing the cow’s appearance with a new theme.
Susan McConnel, a renowned artist from Toogoolawah, will be available during the event to share insights about her inspiration, motivation, and journey as a professional artist. Her works can be found in galleries and homes across Australia, and her public art enriches tunnels, buildings, and outdoor spaces throughout the Somerset Region.
Susan’s goal is to incorporate significant historical sites, events, and stories that have helped shape the Toogoolawah community and its valley. Drawing inspiration from archival material at the Toogoolawah & District History Museum, she will creatively trace the path of the Brisbane and Stanley Rivers along the cow.
Visitors are encouraged to relax and take time to watch Susan at work, transforming a cherished local symbol and celebrating the town’s history through art.
