Vale Yayoi Kusama

Japanese avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama, 97, has died, Kyodo news agency reported on Thursday.

Her studio confirmed her death in a statement posted to her website on Thursday (AEST) but noted she had died several weeks ago.

Ceramics today is a broad field, with practice shaped by teachers, mentors, peers, contemporary knowledge, and histories of craftspeople and artists going back thousands of years. We sit side by side in our community, with strong connections between emerging and established makers, and across varied expressions of ceramics practice.

In partnership with Noosa Regional Gallery, Continuum features 90 small artworks by TACA members.

Join us for some FREE FAMILY FUN this Sunday at ArtPlay Sunday - our favourite day of the month!

This month we have 3 exciting activities;

* Painted paper clay pencil toppers - sculpt a creature out of homemade paper clay and paint it to sit on the end of your pencil!

* Matchstick collage - design an artwork drawn with match sticks!

* Treasure boxes - construct a small box to decorate and keep your treasures inside!

Congratulations to the 3 winners of our record-breaking ART DETECTIVE activity during Imaginate: Fields of Feelings!

Between 20 June and 12 July, we received a whopping 860 entries during the 3-week school holiday exhibition event!

ART DETECTIVE is a free exhibition exploration activity running daily during our normal Gallery hours. It encourages children and their carers to look closely at our exhibitions, searching for answers to clues on their competition form. Art Detective changes with every new exhibition, so there's always something new to discover!
