Friday night saw our first 2026 hosted exhibition opening for Noosa Regional Gallery, Andrew Hillhouse's atmospheric work in 'There is another sky' and Daniel Von Sturmer's video depiction of paint drips in real time : 'Limits of the Model' (Sequence 3). Despite the tumultuous rain we saw a decent crowd of art curious attend.
Thank you to Friend committee members Cheryl Lacey and Angela Fowler for helping out, as well as new Friend member Jo Hughes, Eve Dyson and Mark Dyson. Appreciation as always for our Sponsors Tony and Kate Cox

40 UNDER 40 | ARTIST HIGHLIGHT
Sit Mommy by Brandi Hughes
Oil on canvas
"It’s morning. Coffee in hand, I watch my two-year old son unstack his small plastic chairs and line them up carefully. He looks up at me and says, “Sit, Mommy.” In this simple gesture, I’m reminded how the most ordinary objects can shape a moment and hold meaning...The chair becomes more than utility; it becomes a stage for connection, play, and imagination. It carries the weight of small moments, a child’s invitation, a parent’s pause, and in doing so, transcends its simplicity.
It’s simple yet useful, ordinary yet enduring, and now, it’s art."

At the last exhibition opening of 2025 we celebrated and farewelled after 12 years the lovely Michele Rudder, a local artist and Friends member who has supported Noosa Regional Gallery and art community with passion. A enthusiastic lover of nature who has travelled the world from her homeland France, the discovery of the 'lucious' surrounds of the Sunshine Coast inspires her vibrant art. New work can be seen at an exhibition at Labonne Gallery in Cooroy opening on February 8. Michele promises to stay in touch and belong 🥰
Farewells and hellos - Narelle Cameron our hardworking President of Friends who makes it all fun is stepping down but will still be helping to support us in 2026. Narelle has overseen many years of fundraising events including the amazing Morphe Wearable Art Fashion show held at the Gallery in 2019. - A huge thank you Narelle for over 10 years of amazing dedication🤩
Stepping into Narelle's velvet shoes as the new President is Elaine Dyson who moved to Noosa from Sydney with a background in interiors and design education. Her mission is to grow the Friends group, support Noosa Regional Gallery and connect with the art community.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR ART CURIOUS PEOPLE TO JOIN US!
